Summary:
Provides non-medical skin treatments or services to clients in order to optimize their skin health, appearance and promote beauty and self confidence. Treatments may include facials, facial massage, superficial peels, epidermal leveling, comedone extractions, possible use of laser and light based technologies. Also assists clients with skin disorders, scars and damaged skin such as in the case of burn survivors.
Responsibilities:
1. Follows safe practices according to policies and procedures to include monitoring the condition of the products and equipment used for skin care treatments. Ensures all products are within dates of use.
2. Helps maintain a safe, clean and efficient environment. Assures the room is clean before bringing client in. Assures needed supplies/positioning aids/equipment are available and clean. Uses supplies judiciously and participates in reprocessing program.
3. Manages and treats the skin care needs of the clients. Skin care needs include make-up, spa treatments, skin cleansing, treatments for skin diseases and facial massages. Provides facial treatments, deep exfoliation treatments and applies facial masks, removes blackheads and applies chemical peels. Performs skin care treatment that may include facials, facial massage, superficial peels, epidermal leveling, comedone extractions, possible use of laser and light based technologies. Aestheticians also assist clients with skin disorders, scars and damaged skin such as in the case of burn survivors.
4. Promotes spa treatments, services and products. Informs the client about promotions and discounts.
5. Understands the products and services of the skin care center. Responsible for maintaining expertise and increasing knowledge about products and skin and body treatments. Able to provide information to staff and clients regarding skin care products and devices and educate clients in proper skin care techniques and products.
6. Work with burn patients to provide skin care strategies and to develop skin care lines for burn patients. Provides patient and staff education regarding the special needs of burn patients.

Education Requirements:
• Graduation from an accredited Aestheticians program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
• Licensed by the North Carolina Board of Cosmetology.
Professional Experience Requirements:
• One (1) year experience with laser and light-based technology as well as skin care products in a medical spa, dermatology or plastic surgeon's office. Experience with chemical peels and microdermabrasion.
