POSITION DETAILS
The Student Career Advisor will report to the Student Career Program Manager within the Cooperman Business Center. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Student Career Advisor will be responsible for the following duties:
+ Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution business career-related seminars, panels, workshops, company visits and other events.
+ Work with the Office of Student Communication to promote the Cooperman Fellowship when applications open.
+ Collect, maintain, and organize application materials from all candidates for use by the Program Manager.
+ Maintain communication with applicants as needed, including but not limited to scheduling interviews.
+ Liaise with the Office of Financial Aid to ensure accurate application of tuition assistance, process all reimbursement and stipend requests.
+ Guide Certificate students through their search for qualifying internships for the Capstone course
+ Assist students with drafting resumes and other application materials
+ Meet regularly with students to ensure progress against timelines, and escalates concerns to Certificate Director and/or Program Manager when necessary
+ Draft weekly Cooperman Business Center newsletter, including sourcing of internship, job and fellowship opportunities and other resources to include in each issue.
+ In collaboration with the Office of Student Communication maintain and update the website, ensuring up to date event calendar.
+ Track various metrics such as student outcomes, event attendance, post event surveys, and newsletter engagement for data driven decision making by leadership
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ A self-starter with strong organizational skills.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and Google Suite.
+ Academic and/or work experience should demonstrate strong project management skills.
+ Some experience working for an institution of higher education is preferred.
+ Strong level of professionalism and commitment to working with a diverse student population.
+ Must be able to work occasional evenings, as well as one or two Saturdays, during the school year.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Provides career counseling and participates in providing comprehensive career services programs.
- Provides employment and career counseling to students; may provide services to alumni
- Conducts workshops on resume writing, job search research methods, preparing for job interviews, and other topics
- Administers online job posting and resume search systems
- Coordinates on-campus recruitment programs and interviews; attends on and off-campus meetings with employers
- Maintains systems such as job banks, resource databases, and placement statistics; analyzes data; maintains department web site
- Coordinates career fairs and other career office events; prepares and distributes communications regarding events and programs
- Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary commensurate with education and experience: **_$46,103- $54,268_**
CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
