    York College, founded in 1966, is a center of academic excellence in the heart of Jamaica, Queens. One of the eleven senior colleges in The City University of New York, the College’s mission is to enrich students' lives by fostering an environment where they’ll grow into passionate and engaged learners.

     

    York’s academic programs are housed in three schools: The School of Arts & Sciences, The School of Business and Information Systems, and The School of Health Sciences and Professional Programs. Over sixty baccalaureate programs from across a variety of disciplines, including accounting, aviation management, business, computer science, journalism, social work, teacher education, a dual BS/MS degree in Occupational Therapy, and one of the top-ranked nursing programs in New York State, provide students with opportunities to study liberal arts, sciences, and professional programs. The College also offers six graduate programs: Aviation Management, Clinical Trials Management, Pharmaceutical Science and Business, Physician Assistant, Social Work and Nursing Education.

     

    Located in Queens, the most ethnically diverse county in New York State, the College enrolls 7,000 students from over 95 nations. Nine out of ten students are members of a racial/ethnic minority group, and more than half of undergraduates are the first in their families to pursue higher education.

     

    The College’s 50-acre campus encompasses seven buildings, including science and computer labs, music and television studios, a Performing Arts Center, and a Health and Physical Education Center. The College recently completed seven major construction projects, with more scheduled for the future. In addition, its neighborhood is at the center of a renaissance fueled by economic revitalization.

    The Enrollment Registrar Director is a pivotal leader responsible for managing and safeguarding all official academic records while ensuring compliance with University, College, Federal, and State policies and regulations, including FERPA guidelines. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, this role oversees technology-based student information systems critical to College operations, including course registration, class scheduling, articulation agreements, degree audits, transcripts, graduation processes, and student progress monitoring.

    Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

    + Develop and implement administrative policies, procedures, and technology to optimize service efficiency and accuracy; Act as the custodian of academic records, maintaining their integrity, confidentiality, and security.

    + Manage compliance with Federal, State, and City reporting and record-keeping requirements.

    + Serve on University and College-wide academic and administrative committees, including the CUNY Council of Registrars.

    + Partner with faculty, staff, Senate, and curriculum committees to develop, implement, and enforce academic policies consistently and effectively.

    + Collaborate with University and campus Registrars to model and implement best practices.

    + Engage in strategic planning to align academic and enrollment goals with the University's objectives.

    + Oversee and audit student records, including academic performance and transfer credit evaluations.

    + Lead administrative, technical, and operational activities related to student records, degree audits, diploma production, and information security.

    + Implement and maintain curriculum changes, course catalogs, and class schedules using the University's technology platforms (e.g. CUNYFirst, EAB Navigate, CourseDog); Serve as a resource for curriculum matters, academic standards, and graduation requirements.

    + Lead the administrative and operational activities of the Registrar’s Office, defining and developing core business processes, policies, and procedures.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.

     

    The ideal candidate should demonstrate expertise in academic administration, compliance, and student information systems, with a proven ability to lead strategic planning, operational improvements, and collaborative initiatives to support institutional goals.

    CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

    Directs College registration operations and serves as Registrar.

     

    - Provides leadership in advancing the College's enrollment goals and is responsible for all activities associated with the registration process

     

    - Develops strategic plan to address student enrollment, registration activities, data collection and dissemination, records confidentiality and degree audit protocol; assures quality of testing and implementation of system updates

     

    - Oversees a wide array of enrollment and retention initiatives and special projects; recommends and administers enhanced technology applications to improve processing systems and data integrity

     

    - Assesses outcomes and formulates responses to meet established goals and objectives; presents performance results data to facilitate executive decision-making

     

    - Ensures reporting requirements are completed in timely and accurate manner to fulfill various legal obligations; maintains audit trails

     

    - Manages professional and clerical staff as well as department budget

     

    - Performs related duties as assigned.

    $115,333 - $124,656 - Salary commensurate with education and experience.

     

    CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
