    Job Duties:

    This position manages and coordinates all phases of highway maintenance operations (vegetation control, surface repair, drainage maintenance, snow and ice control, debris removal, shoulder and slope maintenance, inventory and procurement, hazardous materials, and waste, etc.) in the West Sub-Area (Sauk Centre TS). This also includes supervising sub area personnel, developing work plans and budget, and coordinating equipment use and maintenance.

     

    _The incumbent is required to be immediately accessible to a phone and be able to report to work within one (1) hour of being called._

    Minimum Qualifications

    Experience:

    + One year of supervisory experience (e.g., TOS 1) or equivalent experience (e.g., lead on a construction crew, Construction or Plant Manager, or military leaders that included hiring, training, and supervision of road maintenance or construction crews).

    OR

    + Three years of experience (e.g., TGS, TS) or equivalent experience (e.g., lead on a road or maintenance construction crew; Construction or Plant Manager; or military leaders providing technical training and direction to staff, planning, and coordinating work activities and lead work direction to road or construction crews).

    Educational Substitution:

    + A two year Civil or Construction Technology Degree or the following four-year degrees: Architectural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering; Business Administration; Construction Management; Land Surveying /Geomatics; or equivalent may substitute for one year of TGS experience.

    AND

    License:

    + Minimum of a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement and no air brake restriction is required at the time of hire.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + **Moderate knowledge of non-commercial herbicide/pesticide applicator’s processes and procedures.**

    + Experience operating, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing roadway maintenance equipment and tools.

    + Experience working with hazardous materials and hazardous waste stream management.

    + Experience working with windows-based computer software and database applications, including TAMS.

    + Budgeting and purchasing experience.

    + Knowledge of related labor agreements or work in a union environment.
