JOB DESCRIPTION:
The **Principal Technical Writer (REST APIs)** is responsible for planning, developing and maintaining REST API specification documentation in multiple formats including guides, tutorials and web-based developer portal systems. Creates clear, concise, user-oriented REST API documentation. Researches, writes, proofreads and edits end-user focused REST API documentation utilizing screen shots and illustrations using graphic tools where needed. Assists in the development of REST API documentation strategy, standards and optimization of tools.
Qualified candidates are highly self-motivated, solution-minded, and can work with minimal guidance and supervision to:
+ Assume responsibility for multiple highly complex REST API documentation projects requiring innovative, original solutions adhering to current REST API documentation business trends
+ Receive assignments in the form of objectives and determine how to use or improve existing methods/tools to meet schedules and goals
+ Recommend improvements to REST API documentation standards
+ Optimize processes and operational policies for improving documentation solutions, keeping in mind technical applications like Cloud hosting, safeguarding security and publishing ad hoc updates
+ Act as an advisor to others to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems
+ Provide functional mentorship and competency-based guidance to teams
+ Mentor others on specific functional nuances and cross-functional impact
+ Serve as the customer advocate; proactively identify and execute customer solutions and liaise with other departments when necessary
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
+ Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 - 4 years REST API documentation experience.
+ Strong organizational, planning and time management skills; ability to prioritize and manage competing high-priority projects
+ Experience in designing, developing, delivering customer-centric API documentation processes and/or strategy
+ Proficient with CMS and technical content authoring software like Drupal, Madcap Flare, Adobe Robohelp, etc.
+ Experience in evaluating and improving the technical aspects of developing and hosting technical documentation
+ Able to work directly with stakeholders and capable of resolving related challenges in a professional manner
+ Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
+ Ability to work across different time zones & cultures
Preferred
+ Hospitality SAAS industry and hotel or retailing experience
+ Previous exposure to GraphQL APIs
