Responsibilities

+ Provide employee counseling, psycho-therapeutic, psychometric assessment techniques to assist in the evaluation and treatment of beneficiaries.

+ Independently provide a full range of clinical services to assess, diagnose, and treat patients with a focus on children, adolescents and families.

+ Provide individual, family and/or group counseling and psychotherapy using a variety of treatment modalities to beneficiaries.

+ Provide clinical consultation to other professionals and paraprofessionals, as necessary regarding child and family behavioral health concerns.

+ Perform research, analysis, and data coordination.

+ Develop reports and present outcomes formally and informally to command and other interested parties.

+ Record and document pertinent data in patient health records.

+ Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including schools and community agencies, to ensure coordinated care for children and families.

+ Participate in discharge planning and facilitate referrals to appropriate community resources and support services for families.

+ Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services to children, adolescents and families experiencing acute behavioral health crisis.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirements for Social Worker (Clinical):

**Degree:** Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

**Experience required:** To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

**Specialized experience is defined as:** one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations of behavioral health patients, providing individual or group clinical counseling, and developing behavioral health treatment plans and/or recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

**Licensure:** A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
