    Our pharmacy team at Missouri Baptist is looking for a dependable Pharmacy Technician with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. In this role, you will work to provide excellent patient care by efficiently and accurately filling and delivering medications across the hospital as well as accurately and sterilely compounding IV medications. Your responsibilities will include labeling medications, delivering medications to Pyxis, managing medication inventory, troubleshooting Pyxis issues as they arise, completing unit inspections, helping resolve nursing questions.

     

    + Monday-Friday 5:00am - 1:30pm

    + No weekends

    + No holidays

    + $2,000 Sign-on bonus

    **_Missouri Baptist Medical Center_** , an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

    The Inpatient Pharmacy at Missouri Baptist Medical Center consists of a Central Pharmacy including an ISO Class 5 Clean Room for sterile product preparation and satellite pharmacies in the Operating Room, the Cancer/Infusion Center, and satellites or decentralized pharmacists on several inpatient floors. The pharmacy department supports robust Medication Therapy Services for inventory management and Pyxis ES for decentral medication storage, an electronic medical record, and smart pump technology with dose error reduction software. The Pharmacy program at MoBap also administers an ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency program.

    Role Purpose

     

    The Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient 3, under the direct supervision a of staff pharmacist and according to standard procedures, provides cross coverage for multiple technician competencies or responsibilities within a focus area. This position serves as a department resource to answer questions and assists in resolving more complex issues. This position's responsibilities may include preparing medication orders, assisting in dispensing and transporting medications, conducting complex sterile and/or non-sterile compounding, inventory management, training, the use of various automated/electronic systems, and maintaining the required documentation & records.

    Responsibilities

    + Maintains quality assurance standards and required documentation; maintains regulatory cleanliness compliance.

    + Assists in the preparation of medication orders, to include workflow management, basic preparation & dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.

    + Supports various inventory activities, to include inventory storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness.

    + Assumes primary responsibility for a specific task, function or area of specialty, to include training, system maintenance, inventory management, workflow, process improvement, as well as use of electronic/automated systems.

    + Pursues proficiency in the preparation of complex sterile compounds; seeks out other advanced skills and/or additional responsibilities.

    + Performs multiple technician responsibilities across the pharmacy or assumes primary responsibility for a focus area, which includes training, system maintenance, inventory management, workflow, process improvement, and proficiency in associated electronic/automated systems; focus areas could also include complex sterile or non-sterile compounding, quality assurance inspections, repackaging, system and automation maintenance, and process/policy improvement.
