Additional Information About the Role
BJC HealthCare System is hiring a **Full-Time Retail Pharmacy Tech I** for our **Home Care Infusion Pharmacy (710 S Boyle Ave., St. Louis, MO).**
Position Details:
+ **Day Shift: Monday – Friday with a Rotating schedule between opening (8am-4:30pm) and closing (8:30am-5pm) shifts**
+ **NO weekends or holidays!!!**
+ **In-office position (not remote)** - Supporting pharmacy department operations in a cubicle-based onsite setting
+ Support patient care through processing medication orders, insurance claims,
+ Excellent communication skills — supporting patients via phone, email, and MyChart to set up refill deliveries of medications.
+ Experience processing insurance claims and verifying patient eligibility
+ Ability to maintain patient files and perform administrative tasks
+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Job Responsibilities:
+ Processing medication orders and refills (note: will not be actively assembling medications)
+ Communicating with patients - Answering patient questions and providing medication information
+ Processing insurance
+ Collaborating with team members to ensure smooth pharmacy workflow
_Requirements:_
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ **Missouri Pharmacy Technician License (required** ): The license can be obtained quickly—simply submit your application now and expect approval within 3-4 weeks. Submit an application to the Missouri Board of Pharmacy (note: this is a license, not a certification).
+ Must undergo a criminal background check
_Experience:_
+ 6 months - 1 year or more of Retail pharmacy experience (preferred)
+ Pharmacy customer service, pharmacy administrative support, and pharmacy support roles ( _such as Pharmacy Administrative Assistant or Pharmacy Service Coordinator_ )

Overview
**BJC Home Care** offers patients and their families a complete range of home care services, including skilled nursing services, adult and pediatric hospice and supportive care, rehabilitation therapy, home infusion therapy, infusion treatment rooms, home medical equipment and high-tech respiratory care. Specialty home care programs also are available, including adult and pediatric asthma, cardiac, diabetes, orthopedic and wound care programs.

The Home Infusion Therapy Department of BJC Home Care Services works closely with physicians, patients and caregivers to enable patients to remain or return home while receiving intravenous medications. Our services include 24 hour on-call pharmacy and nursing services, comprehensive patient education materials, patient assessment and drug administration monitoring, and coordination of professional services including home care nursing and laboratory services.
Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
The Pharmacy Technician - Retail 1, under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist and according to standard procedures, performs general clerical and support duties for the department. This position is also responsible for entering information into the pharmacy IT system, selling prescriptions, managing inventory and completing prescription workflow steps.
Responsibilities
+ Completes clerical duties, to include sending and receiving tubes & faxes, filing prescriptions, processing mail & courier prescriptions.
+ Enters customer, insurance and prescription information and completes prescription transfers.
+ Sells prescriptions (POS system), handles cash, manages payment exceptions and reconciles cash.
+ Orders and manages inventory (drug and non-drug); stocks shelves; rotates, organizes, and removes expired product; performs cycle counts and returns to stock.
+ Completes data entry, contact manager, product dispensing (manual and automated via Parata and RxSafe), and basic compounding.
