Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direction of the Perioperative Services Director, the Sterile Processing Manager provides quality services while maintaining strict aseptic and sterile parameters in product processing. The SPD Manager also provides the Operating Room with the right product at the right time and in the quantities needed utilizing national agreements and contracts to the maximum extent possible. Follows established Policies and Procedures for maintaining instrumentation inventory at proper level to ensure that using surgical services and facility departments have adequate support.

The Sterile Processing Department Manager works with charge RNs, managers, supervisors, and staff to coordinate the various functions of the Sterile Processing Department with all patient care units, the Emergency Room, X ray, Cardiac Cath Lab, Day Surgery, Labor and Delivery, Endoscopy and the main Operating Room. The manager is also responsible for employee, patient and physician satisfaction as well as regulatory compliance and corporate standards.

What qualifications you will need:

+ Central Sterile Certification or Surgical Technology Certification preferred.

+ Central Sterile Processing Technician Certification (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required within 2 years of hire.

+ Minimum 2 years as Sterile Processing Technician, Surgical Technician, or Operating Room Registered Nurse

+ Supervisory experience preferred

+ Knowledge of Federal/CMS regulations, Joint Commission standards, specialty equipment and tools

+ Skills: Management/Planning skills, make decisions under pressure, handle multiple priorities, work alone, work in areas that are confined and/or crowded, attention to detail
