Description
The Institute for Family Health is a non-profit organization committed to providing health services to medically underserved communities. The Institute operates 27 full and part time health centers throughout the Bronx, Manhattan and the Mid-Hudson Valley region of New York State.
The Bookkeeper/Clerk will be responsible for providing financial and administrative support to the Finance Department. Job responsibilities include receiving, verifying, and recording financial records. This position will maintain databases and records of financial transactions, ensuring that records are complete and current.
Responsibilities
+ Process pharmacy invoices
+ Verify and enter company transactions into ledger; research and resolve discrepancies
+ Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial transactions (e.g., disbursements, expense vouchers, receipts, accounts payable)
+ Assist with financial statement preparation by gathering data from bank reports, vendor records, and ledger
+ Prepare checks, deposits, budgets, and financial reports
+ Record information, processing, and filing forms
+ Assist with entering in accounts payable invoices into the system
+ Prepare and submit invoices to vendors; track and oversee overdue accounts
+ Assist with annual operating and program budgets
+ Maintain inventory, database, and record maintenance (electronic and paper)
+ Respond to requests from vendors and internal departments
+ Assisting with filing and other clerical/administrative duties, as needed
Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED required
+ 2-4 years of related experience required
+ Bachelor's degree preferred
+ Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
+ Ability to learn and work with various databases
+ Understanding of accounting and financial principles
+ Strong mathematical skills
+ Verbal and written communication skills
+ Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel
+ Interest in health care and human services a must; experience in the field a plus
