• Assistant Controller

    Robert Half Finance & Accounting (Chicago Heights, IL)


    Description

    We are looking for a skilled and driven Assistant Controller to join our Finance team in the South Suburbs. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in accounting and manufacturing who thrives in fast-paced environments. You will play a pivotal role in financial planning, cost analysis, compliance, and reporting, contributing to strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist in developing annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with leadership.

    • Implement and refine operational processes, procedures, and controls to enhance plant efficiency.

    • Prepare accurate financial statements and support monthly, quarterly, and annual closings in compliance with regulatory standards.

    • Conduct detailed cost accounting analyses, including inventory valuation and cost variance analysis, to optimize manufacturing operations.

    • Maintain and analyze standard costs for materials, ensuring accurate costing and resolving manufacturing variances.

    • Reconcile general ledger accounts, including fixed assets, inventory, and intercompany accounts.

    • Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to improve cost controls and operational efficiencies.

    • Contribute to cross-departmental initiatives and support other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

    • At least 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

    • Proficiency in financial controlling, FP& A, and business analysis.

    • Familiarity with major accounting software systems and strong technical accounting skills.

    • Solid understanding of GAAP and US GAAP accounting principles.

    • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights.

    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and curious mindset.
