Our client a leading, national, property management firm looking to hire a skilled assistant controller to support their continued growth. For consideration candidates will need to possess the following skills and experience:
• You have 4 or more years of progressing property accounting experience including general ledger, prepared financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows)
• Worked with a larger property management accounting software like MRI, Skyline, and/or Yardi
• Possess excellent communication skills and you thrive in a collaborative, team environment
• Enjoy leading/managing others
• And you possess a bachelors degree in accounting or finance, or more advanced education/certifications (MBA, MSF, CPA and/or CMA)

Our client is a nationally leading property management company looking to expand their accounting team and by hiring an assistant controller. If you are hired for this role, you will have the following responsibilities:
• Help to lead accounting, analytical, and operational investment analysis for assets and portfolios. If hired for this role you will regularly interact with operations, client services, investors, leadership and serve as their key accounting/finance leader.
• Lead day to day financial review, and management including supporting accounting policies, and internal controls are adhered to and properly followed. As a leader you will also work to assist continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work with the controller on proper treasury management
• Manage property accountants including the review of their work
• Assist leadership and staff with budget preparation, and variance explanations, including performance and quarter year-to-year reviews
• Partnering with the Controller responsible for oversight of Treasury management for property portfolio
• Manage the property accounting team with interpreting financial data and support the synthesis of preparing reports and presentations for management creditors, investors, and government authorities.
• Review property management financial statements, monitor budgets, tax implications and financial reports
• Support and assist with the year-end tax/audit process for all entities, working closely with operating partners and audit firms, and oversee review of final audited financial statements
• Other duties as assigned and requested by leadership

Requirements • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in property accounting, including general ledger management and financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency in property management accounting software such as MRI, Yardi, or Skyline.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities with a proven track record of managing teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced certifications are a plus.
• Familiarity with financial audits, tax processes, and preparing reports for stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
