Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team on a Contract-to-permanent basis in Modesto, California. This part-time role involves managing payroll processes for multiple clients, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and providing exceptional service. The ideal candidate will have expertise in payroll systems, tax filings, and experience with specialized wage structures such as Prevailing and Davis-Bacon wages.

Responsibilities:

• Process payroll for a diverse group of clients, including calculating wages, overtime, and deductions in compliance with applicable laws.

• Prepare and file payroll tax documents, including quarterly and annual reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Manage and track employee vacation, sick leave, and other paid time off balances according to client policies.

• Handle quarterly and year-end reporting requirements, such as W-2s, W-3s, and 1099s, for all assigned clients.

• Ensure compliance with Prevailing Wage and Davis-Bacon Act requirements for applicable clients.

• Stay informed about changes in wage and hour laws to advise clients on payroll-related regulations and best practices.

• Collaborate with clients to align payroll processes with their employee handbooks and HR policies.

• Provide basic HR-related support, such as guidance on employee classification and payroll tax withholdings.

• Maintain accurate and organized payroll records for audit and reporting purposes.

• Respond to client inquiries promptly, resolving payroll-related issues efficiently.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience managing payroll operations, preferably for multiple clients.

• Familiarity with specialized wage structures such as Prevailing Wage and Davis-Bacon Act compliance.

• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations.

• Proficiency in payroll software and tools, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.

• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.

• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills to ensure accuracy in payroll processing.

• General understanding of HR practices related to payroll, including employee classification and compliance.

• Ability to communicate professionally and collaborate with clients to address their needs.
