Description We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to join our team in Madison, Wisconsin. In this role, you will play a key part in managing financial records, preparing tax returns, and ensuring compliance with ever-changing tax regulations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic financial services firm specializing in wealth management, tax planning, and alternative investments.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and file accurate federal, state, and local tax returns for both individual and small business clients.
• Develop tax strategies to optimize liabilities while staying updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.
• Liaise with tax authorities to address audits and inquiries as required.
• Maintain and update financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
• Reconcile financial accounts and resolve discrepancies to ensure accuracy.
• Oversee payroll processes for small business clients, ensuring timely and precise transactions.
• Generate financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analyses.
• Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and external regulatory standards.
• Monitor changes in the regulatory environment and implement necessary policy adjustments.
• Establish and maintain internal controls to protect financial assets and data integrity. Requirements • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• 2-5 years of experience in tax preparation, bookkeeping, and compliance.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or Xero, along with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong knowledge of tax laws, financial regulations, and industry best practices.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and team members.
• Analytical mindset with a strong ability to interpret financial data and resolve discrepancies.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
