    Job Summary

    We are seeking a Research Support Specialist III - Rodent Behavioral and Physiological Phenotyping Technician for our Insourcing Solutions site in Baltimore, MD.

    The essential duties of the Research Support Specialist III are:

    + Conducts behavioral testing on mice and rats to assess locomotor, cognitive, sensory and emotional function

    + Interfaces with research staff to assist with logistics and scheduling of projects and conduct research and laboratory support services

    + Maintains records of testing, organizes data into spreadsheets for storage and analysis

    + Support goals of facility and institute

    + Oversees mouse behavioral procedure rooms and wet lab space

    + Provides husbandry and techincal support for rodents

    + Provides hands on training in mouse behavioral test procedures for students, trainees and lab staff

    + Assists with the supervision of specialized care of animals

    + Administers drugs or treatments to animals

    + May be required to perform IP, IM, ID and SQ injections, oral gavage, submandibular, eye and cardiac bleeds, transcardial perfusion, brain and organ dissection

    + Complies with safety policies, procedures and SDS guidelines, including those related to biohazards and radioactive substances

    + Monitors environmental parameters and reports problems

    Job Qualifications

    The following are minimum qualifications related to the Research Support Specialist III position:

    + HS diploma or GED equivalency required.

    + 1 year experience with research animals + LAT certification OR Bachelor of Science in Psychology/Neuroscience/Animal Science or similar

    + 3 years of experience working with research animals OR 10-13 years of experience working with research animals.

     

    The pay for this position is $30.00 USD per hour.
