    The Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Team at the MTA’s Department of Subways (DOS) is seeking talent for a position as a GIS Analyst.

     

    The EAM Team is responsible for overseeing the software (Hexagon EAM) that manages the lifecycle of our assets, from procurement to maintenance & repair, to the eventual retirement of those assets, including subway cars, track, signals, and all other infrastructure included in the system. Our team has been successful in reducing operational downtime, reducing costs, increasing operational efficiency, improving safety, ensuring compliance, improving data integrity, and providing useful, real-time analytics to senior management for improved decision-making. Our vision is to become the industry leader in Enterprise Asset Management and Maintenance Management.

     

    The EAM GIS team is responsible for managing and maintaining geospatial data related to subway assets and work orders. These insights usually are delivered through web maps, applications, and dashboards and are consumed by a variety of audiences including the Department of Subways leadership.

     

    Our GIS data and applications are housed within Esri Enterprise, so our work is primarily done using Esri tools. However, familiarity with other geospatial tools, including open-source programs, is still beneficial. Additionally, we use a feature manipulation engine (FME) to integrate our EAM and GIS data, so any experience using FME tools is valuable.

    Responsibilities:

    • Support the EAM Program as a technical resource for data analysis and management.

    • Conduct quality control and testing for software development and data management.

    • Prepare technical reports, charts, graphs, maps, and drawings to communicate data findings.

    • Assist in the integration of ESRI GIS environments and HxGN EAM.

    • Develop GIS data and prepare a variety of GIS maps and applications for internal and external users.

    • Compile information for GIS data collected and produce GIS features using tabular data.

    • Define and document strategies for integration, system, and performance testing.

    • Test web-based and mobile applications, ensuring technical specifications are met.

    Required Skills & Education:

    • Master’s degree in a relevant field (including, but not limited to Geographic Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, Business Administration

    • At least two (2) years of relevant work experience

    • Note: Undergraduate degrees with at least four (4) years’ work experience, with relevant skills and training may also be considered

    • Experience with Esri ArcGIS software, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Experience Builder, etc.

    • Knowledge of HxGN, Jira, Confluence, Power BI Development, and GIS fundamentals.

    • Familiarity coding with Arcade, SQL, Python, JavaScript, and other relevant coding languages.

    • Ability to leverage all these tools and technologies to deliver clear, actionable insights that have a measurable ROI

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    Desired Skills:

    • Experience with statistical analysis techniques such as time-series analysis, regression analysis

    • Understanding of data modeling and database structures

    • Knowledge & appreciation of New York City Transit system

    • Previous project experience related to public transportation or urban infrastructure systems

    • Knowledge of Hexagon EAM

    • Knowledge of any cloud ecosystem (Azure, GCP or AWS) and distributed analytics framework (Spark/Flink/Sedona)

    • Experience writing technical specifications, use cases, and design documentation.

    • Ability to translate technical requirements into robust test cases and develop metadata as needed.

    • Experience with web service and API testing, including troubleshooting issues.

    • Proficiency in GIS Fundamentals including JavaScript for GIS: ArcGIS JS API 3.x and JS API 4.x.

    • Solid experience defining and documenting strategies for integration, system, and performance testing.

    Education and Experience:

    Assistant Transit Management Analyst I-II:

    1. A master's degree from an accredited college in geographic information systems, business administration, public administration, public policy, engineering, engineering technology, economics, architecture, mathematics, physics, computer science, finance, accounting, transportation planning, industrial psychology, urban planning/studies, human resources management, labor relations, operations research, security management or in a related area, and one (1) year of satisfactory full-time professional experience in the collection, evaluation and use of data relating to operational procedures, administrative systems, equipment and space utilization, and staffing requirements, including the preparation of charts, graphs, drawings and technical reports; or

    2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in one of the areas listed in "1" above; and two (2) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "1" above.

    Associate Transit Management Analyst:

    A master's degree from an accredited college in geographic information systems, business administration, public administration, public policy, engineering, engineering technology, economics, architecture, mathematics, physics, computer science, finance, accounting, transportation planning, industrial psychology, urban planning/studies, human resources management, labor relations, operations research, security management or in a related area, and two (2) years of full-time satisfactory professional experience in the collection, evaluation and use of data relating to operational procedures, administrative systems, equipment and space utilization, and staffing requirements, including the preparation of charts, graphs, drawings and technical reports. One (1) year of experience must have been in the transportation industry; or

    A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in one of the areas listed in "1" above; and three (3) years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above. One (1) year of this experience must have been in the transportation industry.

    Selection Method:

    Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.

     

    All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MaBSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
