    Position Summary

    RSI is recruiting for a Graphic & Multimedia Designer who will design and create print, digital, and multimedia graphics and products and take and manage photos and videos that communicate the U.S. Department of Energy Office (DOE) of Legacy Management’s (LM) key messages and manage the Communication Products team’s digital repository of photos and videos.

     

    **Job Title:** Graphic & Multimedia Designer

    **Location(s):** Grand Junction, CO

    **Status:** Full-Time

    **FLSA:** Exempt, Exempt

    **Hiring Range: $** 55,000.00 – 70,000.00 per year.(The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)

     

    This position is required to travel up to 30% of the time.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    + Create engaging graphic design, multimedia, and other print and digital media projects from captured footage, still images, graphics, motion graphics, branding, and audio assets that align with DOE LM’s Style Guide and visual identity standards.

    + Perform preproduction, production, and postproduction photography and videography activities.

    + Provide figures, photos, logos, and files in appropriate file formats, as requested.

    + Scan, enhance, and modify photos while maintaining their original editorial integrity.

    + Manage and perform ongoing maintenance and archiving of digital media assets, respective metadata, and related file details.

    + Initiate and coordinate kickoff meetings for new projects and assist with development and messaging strategy.

    + Maintain working expertise of the latest graphic design, multimedia, video, and photo best practices, software, and equipment.

    + Advise clients and colleagues on creating, sourcing, applying, or maintaining visual assets for a variety of creative projects.

    + Review, critique, and amend creative projects with constructive feedback.

    + Other duties, as assigned.

    Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience

    + Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Video, Graphic Design, or related field.

    + 10 years of relevant experience in radio/TV, film, fine arts, communications, digital media, or related field.

    Licenses and Certifications

    + Valid Driver’s License.

    + No professional certification required.

    Required Skills and Abilities

    + Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including experience creating motion graphics.

    + Experience providing graphic design, photo, video and or other creative services support for clients.

    + Ability to travel with and carry camera and production equipment for extended time periods

    + Ability to manage large amounts of media assets with approved software and media storage devices.

    + Demonstrated knowledge of how to create materials and products that comply with Section 508 requirements of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

    + Demonstrated customer-service orientation.

    + Can-do attitude and collaborative work style; flexibility and adaptability.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

    + Strong attention to detail and quality.

    + Strong project management skills, including ability to prioritize and complete competing projects/priorities with aggressive due dates and quick turn-around times.

    + Excellent organizational management and record keeping.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience managing photo and video digital repositories.

    + Photojournalism storytelling experience.

    + Website content management systems experience.

    + Experience supporting community outreach, media relations, STEM education and/or Congressional/intergovernmental programs and activities for clients.

    + Ability to quantify results and outcomes.

    + Ability to communicate within various levels throughout an organization.

    + Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, MS Teams, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint)

    + Experience working as a contractor for the U.S. government.

    + Experience communicating technical and/or scientific information to non-technical and or non-scientific audiences.

    + Familiarity with the U.S. Department of Energy.

    + Knowledge and experience in federal government agency protocols.

    + Familiarity with radioactive and chemical waste, environmental contamination, hazardous material and the associated long-term surveillance and maintenance, records management, work force restructuring and benefits continuity, property management, land use planning, and community assistance.

    Essential Physical Requirements

     

    Light: Work involves moving objects by exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job/occupation is rated for light work when it requires (1) a significant degree of walking or standing, (2) mostly sitting while pushing or pulling arm or leg controls, or (3) working when the weight of the materials is negligible. (The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production-rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible).
