The Wastewater Supply Specialist performs a variety of complex administrative support duties and specialized parts management and purchasing duties in support of Wastewater; coordinates daily Wastewater parts store activities; maintains accurate inventory information.
The Wastewater Supply Specialist performs a variety of activities involving ordering, storing, and issuing materials, equipment, and supplies; picks up and delivers parts and supplies as needed; purchases within delegated limits; maintains inventory control. Parts, materials, and supplies ordered may include equipment components, preventive maintenance parts and supplies, and/or safety, janitorial, and laboratory commodities.

Salary Range: $27.85 - $34.77 / hourly; $57,928.00 - $72,321.60 / annually

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 3:30 pm
Examples of Duties Performed - Duties may include but are not limited to the following
Serves as contact for Wastewater parts, equipment and supply vendors; researches and evaluates vendors regarding price, quality and availability of supplies and equipment; obtains quotes and make recommendations regarding purchases; expedites special and rush orders; Makes independent judgments on purchases within purchasing monetary limits and policy guidelines established by Purchasing Agent.
Coordinates timelines with staff and other departments to ensure availability of requested supplies and equipment; researches and identifies other supply alternatives; forecasts stock ordering and disposal to maintain appropriate inventory level.
Receives, unpacks, inspects and stores equipment, supplies and commodities; checks quality and quantities against packing slips and purchase orders; investigates and resolves discrepancies with vendors and staff.
Provides technical customer service to Wastewater department staff; interprets and explains purchasing rules and regulations as needed; answer questions and resolves problems or complaints.
Maintains an accurate computerized inventory control system relating to the purchase and procurement of materials and supplies including vendor data, stock description, quantities, price information, and shipment method. Develops and produces a variety of records and reports
Follows city purchasing rules; adheres to federal and state purchasing regulations; maintains safety data sheets (SDS) in accordance with EPA and DEQ regulations.
Conducts physical inventories; cleans and checks storage area for proper maintenance, safety and storage procedures.
Effectively manage stores operations to track turnover, refunds, and warranties.
Perform a variety of general clerical and accounting duties.
Actively supports and respects diversity in the workplace.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Oversees the day-to-day storeroom activities for parts and supplies.
Assists with the design, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of parts and supply inventory processes, stock levels, procedures and systems, including the development of work standards and methodology.
Evaluates inventory data to identify trends and issues, and make recommendations.
Performs research and analysis of parts for specialized projects and unique purchases.
Maintains equipment maintenance records.
Performs related and other duties as assigned.

A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
Four years of progressively responsible parts and supply clerk experience in related program area, including two years of purchasing responsibility.
Training:
High School diploma or equivalent; basic computer training; and college or trade school coursework in business, inventory management or purchasing is preferred.
License or Certificate:
Oregon Driver’s License (ODL) - Valid Oregon driver’s license, or ability to obtain by date of hire; must pass driving records check and, if hired, maintain a driving record that meets the City’s standard. Oregon law requires that an out-of-state license holder must obtain a valid Oregon license (with appropriate endorsements) within 30 days of becoming domiciled in the state (ORS 803.355).
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a forklift certification within the first six months of hire.
Certified Professional Public Buyer certification may be preferred.

Different supplies, equipment, parts, and commodities related to Wastewater.
Parts supply operations, procedures, and warehousing methods for specialized parts and supplies related to the specific program area.
Inventory control systems and procedures.
Purchasing practices and procedures and shipping methods.
Modern office accounting and budgeting practices and procedures, particularly those involved in purchasing and receiving.
Ability to:
Research, identify and purchase Wastewater parts, and monitor parts prices.
Effectively manage stores operations to track turnover, refunds, and warranties.
Perform physical inventories.
Process, calculate, compute and/or tabulate data and/or information.
Enter data and maintain manual and computerized inventory and accounting records.
Develop recurring and specialized reports.
Participate in a teamwork environment and provide courteous customer service.
Effectively handle multiple tasks and meet assigned deadlines.
Operate a variety of warehouse and office equipment including computer terminal, bar-code equipment, automobiles, pallet jack, and forklift.
Utilize a wide variety of reference and descriptive data and information resources.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

The normal starting salary is the first step shown on the posting. Other placement in the salary range may be considered depending on qualifications and experience.
