    About the Role

    We are seeking a seasoned Business Manager/Controller to oversee and lead the financial and administrative operations of our growing heavy civil construction business. This role is pivotal in ensuring the financial health, compliance, and operational efficiency of the company. The Business Manager/Controller will report directly to the President and CFO and will be a key member of the senior leadership team.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Oversee all financial operations including job cost accounting, project accounting, and financial reporting.

    + Manage accounts payable, general ledger, month-end close, and financial statement preparation.

    + Lead forecasting, budgeting, and cost control efforts across multiple projects.

    + Supervise administrative staff and ensure smooth office operations.

    + Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal regulations, and internal policies.

    + Administer contracts, subcontracts, work orders, and teaming agreements.

    + Collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, and engineers to support project success.

    + Utilize ERP systems such as Sage Intacct, HCSS HeavyBid, and HCSS HeavyJob for financial and project management.

    Required Skills & Experience

    + 15+ years of experience in business management and project cost accounting.

    + 10+ years in construction industry accounting, with a strong focus on job and project costing.

    + 5+ years of experience in federal construction project accounting.

    + Proven experience with contract administration and compliance.

    + Proficiency in ERP systems including Sage Intacct, HCSS HeavyBid, and HCSS HeavyJob.

    + Strong understanding of GAAP, financial forecasting, and reporting.

    + Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

    Preferred Skills

    + Experience with month-end reporting and reconciliation.

    + Familiarity with construction industry compliance and reporting standards.

    + Ability to develop and implement efficient administrative systems.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
