We are looking for a Laboratory Manager to lead laboratory operations and the scientist team at our Regional Application Center for the Americas, supporting product development and technical support activities. This role involves collaborating with Application Scientists to develop new polymer additive solutions, ensuring safe laboratory operations, managing compliance with environmental and safety standards, and coordinating laboratory workflows, including raw material procurement and sample shipping.

+ Using your expertise in plastics additives processing and testing methods to generate performance data for additives in polymer systems.
+ Using your organizational skills to maintain work instructions, instrument calibrations, and records for ISO 9001 and BASF health and safety compliance standards.
+ Communicating effectively as part of a broader team, allowing you to be an equal partner with our Application Scientists as we work with customers to resolve their challenges.
+ Leading people to develop a high-performance team that is capable, responsive, inclusive, and entrepreneurial, enabling your team members to achieve their full potential at BASF.
+ Coordinating work with others to plan and prioritize work in the laboratory, and to create transparency into our workload and capabilities.
+ Adapting quickly to changes in workflow caused by unexpected customer and quality issues that need rapid resolution.
If you...
+ Possess an Associate’s degree in chemistry, engineering, polymer science, or a related field, with 10 years of relevant experience and prior supervisory experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in the same fields with 5 years of relevant experience.
+ Have hands-on experience with plastics processing equipment such as extrusion and molding, or similar heavy machinery.
+ Demonstrate the ability to work independently, meeting broad objectives with minimal guidance, and adapt to changing priorities.
+ Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Show strong leadership abilities, with a focus on interpersonal skills and talent development.
+ Are proficient in computer skills, particularly with MS Office tools, SAP, and LIMS software.
