    Scope of Job

     

    To coordinate curricular development and review processes in alignment with UTRGV SOM Central Curricular Authority Committee ( CCAC ) and Liaison Committee on Medical Education ( LCME ) standards in the Office of Educational Affairs ( OEA ).

    Description of Duties

    + Coordinates, develops, and analyzes curricular reports, tracking forms and dashboards for OEA to ensure alignment with CCAC guidance and LCME accreditation standards.

    + Monitors and reviews current curriculum processes such as course data from OEA and CCAC to ensure accurate and consistent representation of program and course data in preparation for LCME audits.

    + Coordinates with faculty, staff, and curriculum leadership to ensure undergraduate medical curriculum requirements such as course descriptions and course objectives are aligned with internal and external standards (e.g., CCAC , LCME , THECB , etc.)

    + Arranges faculty course lead and clerkship director curricular design and review meetings to review curricular requirements are met and in alignment with OEA , CCAC and LCME standards.

    + Reviews, evaluates and monitors curriculum proposals to ensure that SOM , CCAC and LCME educational standards, are followed.

    + Supports the Curriculum Manager in compliance tracking of LCME curricular standards.

    + Creates agendas, informational/ orientation packets, and maintains meeting minutes for OEA curricular meetings.

    + Communicates curriculum revisions such as course descriptions, objectives, assessments, rubrics, course availability, credit/contact hour revisions and updates other departments including, but not limited to the SOM registrar, departments, advising and admissions to ensure alignment and consistency of curriculum systems (e.g., One45, blackboard, degree audit, student records, course inventory, catalogs).

    + Assists with the coordination, training and maintenance of SOM web-based course catalog in collaboration with SOM Registrar and course/ academic coordinators.

    + Monitors course and curriculum approvals through the SOM web-based curriculum management system to ensure timely feedback and/or approval and implementation of changes.

    + Reviews and updates curriculum information for the university web-based catalog in collaboration with the SOM Registrar.

    + Researches and responds to inquiries and requests for information related to curriculum and academic policy issues from faculty, staff and leadership including operational processes and procedures.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    Direct supervision of assigned staff.

    Required Education

    Bachelor’s degree in Education or in a related field from an accredited university.

    Required Experience

    + One (1) years of related experienceor

    + Three (3) years of related experience with an Associate’s Degree or equivalent.

    Preferred Experience

    Experience obtained in a higher education setting.

    Equipment

    Use of standard office equipment. Competent in MS Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook Email, Microsoft Web Expression (or other web development software); experience with Blackboard and Access is preferred.

    Working Conditions

    Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

    Other

    Exceptional planning and organizational skills. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines in an organized and detail-oriented manner.
