The Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley ( UTRGV ) seeks a dynamic and dedicated individual for a one-year faculty appointment. This position is a non-tenure track role intended to support the department’s teaching, service, and student engagement activities for the 2025–2026 academic year. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of the Occupational Therapy Doctorate ( OTD ) program.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Teach doctorate-level courses in the Occupational Therapy program in accordance with departmental and accreditation standards.
• Mentor and advise occupational therapy students on academic, professional, and clinical matters.
• Participate in departmental meetings, accreditation activities, and ongoing program assessment.
• Contribute to interprofessional education and collaborative initiatives within the College of Health Professions.
• Support and uphold the mission and vision of UTRGV and the Department of Occupational Therapy.

Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, Ed.D.) or post professional doctorate (e.g. OTD ) in occupational therapy from an accredited institution. Licensed or license eligible as an occupational therapist in the state of Texas. Three (3) or more years of clinical experience as an occupational therapist.

Additional Information
UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position mayrequire presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work isperformed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System ofTexas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

Texas law requires faculty members whose primary language is not English to demonstrate proficiency in English as determined by a satisfactory paper-based test score of 500 (computer-based of 173 or internet-based of 61) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language ( TOEFL ) or a satisfactory test score of 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System ( IELTS ).
