    Job Title: Shop Technician

    Job Description

    As a Shop Technician, you will be responsible for repairing and replacing damaged or worn parts on drilling rigs and crawler cranes. You will utilize mechanical engineering theory to review schematics and operations books, ascertaining procedures and objectives to test the nature of technical problems. Your role will involve operating mechanical boom and cable equipment to troubleshoot machine problems and evaluate the correctness and completeness of repairs. You are expected to set a positive example in punctuality and professional demeanor, maintain respectful communication with all levels of staff, keep work areas clean and orderly, and promote safety regulations and programs.

    Responsibilities

    + Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer’s specifications.

    + Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.

    + Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.

    + Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.

    + Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.

    + Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.

    + Read, understand, and interpret operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.

    + Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.

    + Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.

    + Specialize in repairing and maintaining parts of the engine, gearboxes, and hydraulic components.

    + Review layouts, blueprints, diagrams, or work orders in preparation for welding or cutting metal components.

    + Promote a safe work environment by ensuring adherence to established safety procedures.

    + Follow directions for handling and disposing of hazardous wastes like toner, oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, auto parts cleaner, and similar materials.

    Essential Skills

    + Competency in mechanical and electrical technical engineering application.

    + Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.

    + Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and passport.

    + Capability to work overtime, weekends, or on-call duty.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in assembly and troubleshooting.

    + Proficiency in inspecting incoming equipment, disassembling, and assembling equipment.

    + Mechanical assembly skills.

    + Experience using hand tools for repair.

    This is a Contract position based out of Frenchtown, New Jersey.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
