    Solar Operations Technician – Fort Stockton, TX

     

    We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Solar Operations Technician to join our team at a utility-scale solar photovoltaic facility in Fort Stockton, TX. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in AC/DC systems, drives, and electrical troubleshooting, who are passionate about renewable energy and hands-on technical work.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Operate and maintain utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems with a focus on AC/DC electrical systems and drives.

    + Perform routine and corrective maintenance on inverters, transformers, switchgear, and AC/DC drives.

    + Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment, including power conversion systems and motor control systems.

    + Monitor plant performance using SCADA and other monitoring tools; respond to alarms and system faults.

    + Conduct inspections, testing, and diagnostics on electrical components and systems.

    + Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, system performance, and repairs.

    + Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations.

    + Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to optimize plant performance.

    Job Requirements:

    + High School Diploma or equivalent required.

    + 2-year technical degree or equivalent relevant work experience.

    + Strong experience with AC/DC electrical systems and AC/DC drives is required.

    + Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems, including motor control centers, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and inverters.

    + Experience with utility-scale solar inverters and PV systems is highly preferred.

    + Familiarity with instrumentation and control systems is a plus.

    + Ability to work independently and follow detailed technical procedures.

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    + Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

    + Physically capable of performing demanding tasks, including climbing ladders, lifting heavy equipment, and working in various weather conditions.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Certifications in electrical systems, solar PV, or AC/DC drives.

    + Experience with SCADA systems and remote monitoring tools.

    + Knowledge of NEC, OSHA, and NFPA 70E standards.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00 **PAY DEPENDS ON APPLICABLE EXPERIENCE

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.
