    Job Title: Hardware Engineer

    Job Description

We are seeking a talented hardware systems engineer to support the design, implementation, integration, and testing of digital and RF systems, primarily focusing on communications and 'edge' devices. You will collaborate with a dynamic team to develop new communication devices, participate in design reviews, and conduct trade studies. A background in RF hardware design and testing is essential, and if you are passionate about advancing technology for the warfighter, we encourage you to apply.

    Responsibilities

+ Design, implement, and review PCBs for RF communications systems, including RF and power distribution.

+ Support test and validation of hardware to ensure performance expectations are met.

+ Analyze schematic diagrams for custom or commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) electronic hardware.

+ Develop and maintain requirements documents, functional specification documents, interface control documents, and engineering wiring diagrams.

+ Develop project test plans and procedures, provide test planning support, and assist in the execution of both lab testing and field testing.

+ Collaborate with a multi-disciplined design team, including electrical engineers, systems engineers, software engineers, and signal processing engineers.

+ Provide technical expertise on different hardware solutions, methodologies, and best practices.

+ Support customer integration and troubleshooting efforts.

+ Interface with PCB vendors to flow requirements and provide testing feedback.

    Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in RF design and testing for communications equipment, including receivers and transmitters.

+ Experience using standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and power supplies.

+ Implementation of RF cascade analysis to trade gain, noise figure, and linearity as part of system design.

+ Solid understanding of RF theory and performance characteristics of analog data converters, ADCs/DACs, and their interface with RF front ends.

+ Experience with Linux OS for testing and troubleshooting.

+ Strong background in PCB circuit design, including power and control signals.

+ Eligible to obtain/maintain a DoD SECRET Clearance.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in RF engineering.

+ Experience with CAD software is desirable, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360.

+ Ability to work independently to identify hardware components.

+ Experience with Altium Designer for PCB design.

+ Knowledge of link budget calculations and the use of S-Parameters.

    Work Environment

The work environment offers flexibility with a schedule that allows some design work to be performed from home. The position requires presence in the office 3-4 days a week, potentially up to 5 days during surge times when boards need testing. The team is responsible for creating small, form-factor devices, usually centered around Software Defined Radios (SDRs), and is beginning to incorporate more sensors into their designs
