    EHS Specialist

    Job Description

    This position is responsible for ensuring governmental regulatory compliance in all areas related to safety and providing support to manufacturing activities. Duties include conducting safety meetings, worksite and equipment inspections, accident investigations, employee injury assessment with follow-up, DOT policy implementation and control, and coordination of employee training programs. The role involves examining environmental and safety trends, investigating to assign cause, and suggesting corrective actions. Additionally, the position assists in authoring safety-related SOPs and SOP revisions, acts as a liaison with community emergency response agencies, and facilitates training programs.

    Responsibilities

    + Investigate property damage accidents, prepare required reports, and communicate information to appropriate locations.

    + Investigate employee injury accidents, prepare written reports, communicate information to appropriate locations, and provide follow-up to ensure successful resolution.

    + Review accident and incident documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete and accurate; ensure corrective action is implemented.

    + Lead and collaborate with the team in investigating all safety incidents to determine cause, implement corrective actions, and report incidents as required.

    + Conduct routine documented inspections of all work sites and equipment to ensure compliance with company safety policies and provide on-site hazards assessment with coordinated corrective action if necessary.

    Essential Skills

    + Minimum of 1 year of safety experience in a manufacturing setting.

    + Bachelor's degree.

    + Intermediate computer skills.

    + Understanding of DOT and DEC regulations.

    + Knowledge of risk management and basic safety principles.

    + Experience in developing and presenting effective safety training.

    + Understanding of OSHA regulations and federal, state & local occupational health & safety regulations.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Exposure to environmental compliance topics such as waste handling and spill response is preferred.

    + Possession of OSHA 511 certification is beneficial.

    + Familiarity with environmental health and safety management.

    Work Environment

    This position is based in a manufacturing plant. The work involves significant time spent reading reports, using a computer, and communicating with coworkers. Physical requirements include mobility between departments, attending meetings, and performing routine tasks such as climbing, stooping, or kneeling. The role may involve lifting up to 40 lbs and handling material and equipment. The environment fosters a great work atmosphere with strong leadership teams, and being part of a global manufacturer of human antibiotic

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $24.03 - $28.84/hr.
