Job Title: Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description

This role is for a software lead responsible for developing embedded software for control systems. The position involves applying innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges and requires independent judgment in significant matters. The engineer will lead a team and provide technical guidance, ensuring the successful completion of engineering tasks. This role also involves representing the organization as a prime technical contact with customers.

Responsibilities

+ Lead a software team to ensure timely completion of development activities and supervise support staff and technicians.

+ Initiate the planning of engineering projects and develop innovative designs or modifications to meet project goals.

+ Independently perform complex engineering work with general guidance on expected results.

+ Conduct functional testing of embedded software and control systems using standard engineering principles.

+ Utilize lab equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network packet sniffers, and serial emulators for test data analysis.

+ Apply technical knowledge to train others in analyzing, investigating, and resolving engineering problems.

+ Support the operation of engineering systems, document findings, implement solutions, and communicate results to project leadership.

+ Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and obligations while conducting business.

+ Maintain safety standards in accordance with established operating procedures.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in C/C++ and experience with Linux, Windows, and RTOS.

+ Experience in rapid software development.

+ Thorough understanding of software engineering principles, coding languages, and theory.

+ Ability to organize, plan, schedule, and coordinate workloads to meet deadlines.

+ Good communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline.

+ Fifteen or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree, thirteen or more years with a master's degree, or ten or more years with a PhD.

+ Experience with GUI design for a tactical user is a plus.

+ Experience with EO/IR signal processing for ISR is a plus.

Work Environment

The role involves working with advanced technologies in the fields of embedded systems, embedded Linux, and laser communications. The position may require extended hours and travel as needed. The work environment encourages innovation and collaboration, with an emphasis on safety and compliance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $180000.00 - $230000.00/yr.
