The Facilities & Maintenance Technician at Nomad GCS is responsible for a broad range of tasks including maintaining and repairing building systems, coordinating and performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring the overall safety, cleanliness, and functionality of the facility and equipment. This includes hands-on work with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, production and shop equipment, seasonal outdoor upkeep, and support for internal projects. The Technician helps maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using Microsoft Office tools and relevant database systems. This role requires strong communication, dependability, and a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilities Maintenance
• Perform day-to-day maintenance of building systems including HVAC, lighting, plumbing, security, fire protection, and facility infrastructure.
• Conduct regular facility inspections to identify safety hazards or maintenance needs and ensure timely resolution.
• Complete basic facility-related repairs including electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, and mechanical work as needed.
• Assist with office reconfigurations, facility improvement projects, and seasonal building tasks (e.g., snow removal, salting, lawn care).
• Coordinate with the Facilities Lead on special projects and annual inspections.
• Conduct required OSHA-related facility inspections (e.g., fire extinguishers, fire alarms).
• Support internal events with set-up and tear-down as directed.
• Lock, unlock, and monitor building access points as part of facility security.
• Support custodial tasks as necessary to assist the Janitorial Technician. This may include:
• Cleaning restrooms and breakrooms.
• Sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming common areas.
• Restocking supplies, emptying trash/recycling, and operating cleaning equipment.
• Maintaining cleanliness in entryways, walkways, and parking lots to ensure a customer-ready environment.
• Take on additional duties as assigned.
Preventative Maintenance & Repair
• Build, perform, and maintain preventative maintenance (PM) schedules and records for facilities, company vehicle fleet, company heavy equipment fleet, manufacturing equipment, and tools.
• Maintain accurate equipment records and update PM tracking systems throughout the lifecycle of each asset.
• Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs of trucks, manufacturing equipment, heavy equipment, and tools, including laser tables, Loewer, brakes, shears, compressors, forklifts, drill presses, saws, grinders, and other acquired assets.
• Participate in seasonal equipment-related maintenance tasks (e.g., HVAC servicing, snow equipment prep).
• Identify repair needs, communicate issues to supervisors, and assist in obtaining quotes or sourcing replacement parts with proper approvals.
• Purchasing and purchase tracking for facilities & maintenance needs
• Track and submit information on preferred vendors and critical spare parts to leadership.
• Utilize Microsoft Office tools and internal databases to maintain PM records, document activity, and support traceability.
• Respond promptly to equipment-related work orders and collaborate with other technicians as needed to complete repairs efficiently.
Team Collaboration & Support
• Partner with colleagues and departments to complete larger projects and office reconfigurations.
• Support internal events or team initiatives with set-up and tear-down as needed.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and interact professionally with team members, staff, or tenants.
• Work with vendors and contractors on larger maintenance tasks under the direction of leadership.
• Participate in safety initiatives, promote shop safety standards, and act as a role model for safety awareness and implementation.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE DESIRED:
• General knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and building construction techniques.
• Familiarity with equipment maintenance, preventative maintenance practices, and mechanical repair.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with maintenance tracking systems or databases.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards, fire safety protocols, and general compliance requirements.
• Experience working with tools, materials, and cleaning chemicals per SDS guidelines.
• Demonstrated understanding and application of Nomad Core Values.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Regular use of hands and arms to manipulate, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls.
• Frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and crawling.
• Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Assistance required for anything heavier than 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and distinguish colors.
• Must have the physical stamina to work in awkward positions and stand for prolonged periods.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
• Partially environmentally controlled indoor area with temperatures fluctuating between 60°F and 100°F, typically maintained around 70°F.
• Occasional outdoor work required.
• Exposure to noise levels ranging from low to loud; safety hearing devices provided as needed.
• Possible exposure to household and commercial chemicals; adherence to safety protocols outlined in Safety Data Sheets (SDS) required.
• Mandatory wearing of OSHA-approved safety eyewear and closed-toed shoes at all times on the production floor.
• Use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE), such as respirators or protective coveralls, may be necessary for specific tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• A positive attitude with a “whatever it takes” approach
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and general repair techniques.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Dependability, professionalism, and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred
• 5 Years Prior experience in facilities maintenance, equipment, or maintenance roles
• Experience with preventative maintenance tasks and tracking systems
• Familiarity with basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, or general construction.
• Knowledge of OSHA or other relevant safety regulations.
• Valid driver’s license if travel between locations is required.
• Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
