  • Assistant Managing Editor, Who What Wear

    Future PLC (Los Angeles, CA)

    Apply Now

Who What Wear is looking for an Assistant Managing Editor with project management experience to join our award-winning culture (https://www.comparably.com/companies/who-what-wear) . If you are someone with experience coordinating content calendars and managing production pipelines across multiple team members, including creating comprehensive cross-departmental project documentation and processes, we want to hear from you.

Our ideal Assistant Managing Editor understands the balance between adhering to set procedures and allowing room for flexibility when situations arise outside of normal circumstances. While driven by timelines, order, and structure, the ideal candidate for this role communicates project needs and goals with compassion, patience, and grace, creating a collaborative experience that is both efficient and enjoyable as part of our company culture goals.

Please note: This is not a writing or editorial role. This position is operations- and project management–focused. You’ll be deep in spreadsheets, calendars, timelines, and cross-functional coordination—making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes! While you may occasionally join creative brainstorms, this role is not focused on content creation, and prior editorial experience isn’t necessary to succeed here. If you’re looking to pivot into a writing role, this likely isn’t the right fit. However, if you’re an operations nerd and love systems, deadlines, and bringing order to creative chaos, please attach a short cover letter detailing a specific project you’ve successfully managed to your application—including your methodology and any relevant metrics—in order to be considered.

The Assistant Managing Editor role would ideally be based in Los Angeles and will report to the Managing Editor.

    What you'll do

+ Project managing the Editorial Sponsored Content process through all stages of production—from briefing and assigning to tracking subtask due dates and final delivery

+ Communicate with internal production, Editorial, and Branded Content teams to fulfill client deliverables on time while meeting client expectations

+ Assist the Managing Editor with inputting weekly assignments into Asana for the Edit Team

+ Support the Managing Editor with daily production management, including facilitating daily production check-in Asana status communication with the Editorial team

+ Create project timelines and tracking tentpole feature projects through all stages of creative and editorial development

+ Ensure all departments involved in major tentpole projects operate as a united team

+ Manage monthly advertiser campaign by updating our project management tool (Asana)

+ Create comprehensive project documentation, and audit editorial spreadsheets for workflow optimization

+ Support the Editorial team to ensure Editors feel both confident in putting forth their best work and comfortable enough to spark collaborative conversations regarding processes

Experience that will put you ahead of the curve

+ 2+ years of project management experience or a similar role with a portfolio of work that shows success at collaborating with several teams across business categories, including distribution, art, sales, and data teams

+ Well above average organizational and time-management skills with a strong attention to detail

+ Open and responsive to feedback to improve the quality of work and performance

+ Experience auditing, finessing, building, and maintaining processes to maximize efficiency and workflow optimization

+ Can work calmly under pressure, proactively communicate, and meet tight daily deadlines with a strong sense of accountability

+ Confidence and flexibility to solve challenges and maintain progress

+ Platform-specific knowledge—Asana, Google Workspace, SEO tools, Looker Studio, etc.

    What's in it for you

The expected range for this role is $57,000 - $70,000

This is a Hybrid role from our Los Angeles Office, working three days from the office, two from home

    • Plus more great perks, which include;

+ Uncapped leave, because we trust you to manage your workload and time

+ When we hit our targets, enjoy a share of our profits with a bonus

+ Refer a friend and get rewarded when they join Future

+ Wellbeing support with access to our Colleague Assistant Programmes

+ Opportunity to purchase shares in Future, with our Share Incentive Plan

Internal job family level Editorial 5
