    **Salary/Pay** **Range** : $83,577 - $119,396 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

    Summary

    The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) Executive or Senior Director of the Wellness Center has overall responsibility for leading and managing the operations of an integrated health and mental health clinic designed to meet the needs of all UCCS students. This includes day-to-day management of revenues and expenditures for an annual budget in excess of $3M, long-range strategic and visionary planning, departmental assessment, risk management, policy and procedure development and implementation, training programs, and developing collaborations that encapsulates all dimensions of wellness across campus and the community. The successful candidate will promote and cultivate an environment that values inclusiveness, make decisions aligned with promising integrative care practices, and promote professional development and learning. Typical workday is 8 AM to 5 PM with some evening and weekend hours required. Although this is a 100% in-person position, with advanced planning, there may be some occasional remote work opportunities.

    Essential Functions

    The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

    Leadership and Department Management:

    + Engages stakeholders in identifying a strategic vision and action plan for Wellness Center initiatives, facilities, programs, and services to articulate priorities related to budget, policies, planning, expansion, student development outcomes and collaboration for the evolving needs and interests of UCCS student population.

    + Creates new integrated services, screenings, and programs between health and mental health services.

    + Remains knowledgeable about issues and legislation related to student health and mental health policy and operations, including immunizations and other hot topics in college health.

    + Routinely assesses services offered at the Wellness Center and strategically looks at ways to enhance services to meet the needs of a growing student body.

    + Mentors staff members on career-related skills, expense reconciliation, interpersonal communication, leadership and supervision skills and additional aspects of personal and professional development.

    + Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, and attending professional development courses and conferences to provide high quality leadership and program development.

    + Carries out clinical work at the Wellness Center, congruent with licensure.

    + Responsible for monthly all-staff meetings to discuss updates, review protocols, and look at areas for improvement.

    + Oversees Student Health Advisory Board bi-monthly or monthly meetings that include sharing of Wellness Center data such as programs, services, staffing, and budget, and provides student development opportunities.

    Fiscal and Resource Management:

    + Works with Assistant Vice Chancellor for Health and Wellness and direct reports to develop the annual budget within each area and supervises expenditures within those budgets.

    + Establishes budgets through the office of the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs (VC EMSA) and develops sustainable business plans in conjunction with the budget office. Coordinates with the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Health and Wellness in the development of the proposed annual Wellness Center departmental budgets to present to the VCEMSA.

    + Serves as a steward of student fee funds by providing sound fiscal management through the continual monitoring of expenses and revenue within established budget, capital improvement planning and bond management, forecasting, research and trend analysis, and report writing.

    + Maintains accurate accounting records for all wellness center facilities, programs, and services.

    + Works with directors to recommend additional costs for participation in various programs and services and facilitates collection of revenue in accordance with university and state fiscal policies.

    + Collects data comparing Wellness Center utilization, revenue, and expenses each fiscal year and track trends that can be reported to upper-level leadership.

    + Contributes to the annual auditing process and additional reviews of budget materials.

    + Looks for new ways to generate additional funding for areas of oversight.

    Personnel Management:

    + Responsible for hiring, supervising, coaching, and evaluating the performance of the Director of Health Services, Director of Mental Health Services, Assistant Director of Clinical Training, and the Wellness Center Office Manager.

    + Assists directors in developing new positions, as well as making changes in positions as the need arises.

    + Reviews all departmental employee evaluations and coaches supervisors on that process as needed.

    + Works with direct reports to ensure adequate staffing in place when employees are out on leave and assists with personnel performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions when issues arise.

    Risk and Practice Management:

    + Advises senior leadership on issues related to student wellness; collaborates with other campus and University offices to ensure student satisfaction; participates in inter-divisional programs to increase student success and retention; and ensures compliance with laws, regulations and policies.

    + Participates in Emergency Operation Exercises (EOC) and reviews and updates COOP emergency plan on a quarterly basis.

    + Serves as a first responder during emergency situations, utilizes necessary communication, and provides access to services and resources to those affected.

    + Coordinates with direct reports to provide regular emergency trainings of all Wellness Center staff to include exercises such as fire drills, active shooter scenarios, and emergency evacuations. Ensures front office staff coordinating with the Department of Public Safety (DPS) on monthly audit to ensure emergency button is working properly and reviewing DPS response.

    + Ensures all Wellness Center employees complete their annual FERPA, Sensitive Student Information, HIPAA and conflict of interest trainings.

    + Completes annual actuarial information spreadsheet of all providers and clinicians for CU Trust.

    + Collaborates with office manager to ensure all clinicians, providers, and contract employees are current with state licensures, DEA licenses, prescriptive authority, and BLS requirements.

    + Holds medical and counseling sensitive information (Private Health Information) in confidence.

    Community and Campus Engagement:

    + Involvement with campus and community committees that work on issues surrounding pandemic infectious disease outbreaks, drug and alcohol issues, sexual assault issues, mental health, emergency preparedness, and issues around inclusion and wellness.

    + Collaborates with El Paso County Public Health and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment on changes to immunization requirements, MOUs for Closed Points of Dispensing (POD's), contact tracing, mandatory reporting, and other public health issues that arise.

    + Coordinates with staff to ensure Wellness Center is represented at club fairs, club meetings, student government meetings, and other student related functions to promote Wellness Center services. Investigates other opportunities to market Wellness Center.

    + Works closely with Marketing Department on wellness branding.

    + Serves as a campus and community liaison and on ad hoc committees on issues of student health and mental health.

    + Participates proactively in programming, departmental, and University events.

    Additional Duties:

    + Performs other duties as assigned that support the mission, vision, and core values of the Wellness Center, Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, and the greater campus community.

    Qualifications

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

     

    + Master's or Doctoral degrees in Nursing, Psychology, Counseling, Wellness Promotion or other related field from an accredited institution, or Medical Degree and board certification as a Family Physician.

    + Current unrestricted Colorado Licensure within 30 days of hire.

    + Minimum five years of management and supervision experience in a health or mental health care delivery setting:

    + Demonstrated success developing, leading, and managing student-centered services and programs to meet the needs of a UCCS student population.

    + Demonstrated skill in developing effective collaborative working relationships within the department, campus, and with other community constituents.

    + Demonstrated experience with group facilitation skills, including conflict management, active listening, intervention, consensus building, and team building.

    + Minimum of five years' experience in planning and administering budgets.

    + Demonstrated skill in the fiscal management of large, complex student fee, general, and auxiliary-funded budgets.

    + Demonstrated skill in strategic planning, assessment, and student learning outcomes.

    + Demonstrated commitment to building an inclusive community.

    + Demonstrated understanding of all applicable laws around confidentially and access, and labor laws with regards to hiring and employment practices.

    + Demonstrated experience in successfully applying the principles of liability and risk management to student services.

    + Demonstrated commitment to the highest industry standards of customer service, professionalism, integrity and excellence.

    + Demonstrated skills in leadership and management, and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing at all levels of engagement. In accordance with Campus Policy 300-012, this salary is supported by independent analysis conducted by Human Resources.
