The Chemical Industry is a core industry for SAP with a long and rich history dating back to 1972 and SAP’s very first customer - ICI. Today, 97 of the top 100 global chemical companies run SAP, along with nearly 5,000 mid-market chemical manufacturers around the world.
The Industry Business Unit (IBU) Process Industry & Natural Resources is a strategic part of SAP’s Energy & Natural Resources sector which is one of the largest and most important sectors in the company. The Chemicals team, within the IBU, is responsible for defining and ensuring the delivery of end-to-end software solutions for the **Chemical** industry which address current and future customer needs, enable our sales organization and partner ecosystem, and support strategic deals, and collaborate with the industry leading customers through our chemicals executive advisory council. The main responsibilities of the **Chemicals** **Industry Advisory Expert North America – IBU Process Industry & Natural Resources** will be to execute on the Chemical Industry growth plan for the NA region to drive revenues and ensure maximized Return on IT for chemical customers in the region. The industry advisory expert will work as part of the global chemicals IBU team, and collaborate closely with the other North American IBU and Industry Advisory Experts of the sector.
What You’ll Do
The Industry Advisor is a critical role supporting our Global & North American **Chemicals** Industry business to grow sales pipeline and engage with our customers to secure revenue. The Industry Executive Advisor provides perspective on industry trends & challenges, gives strategic solution advice, and thought leadership to drive pipeline growth and quality through demand generation strategies, evolve & grow our partner ecosystem through relationship building enablement, and joint business planning, support sales cycles and customer co-innovation programs, and further grow SAP’s leadership position in the industry.
Besides the geographic focus on North America, we are looking for an expert to take the **lead for content development, portfolio & partner strategy, and go-to-market** for the **strategic Solution Area of Supply Chain Management for Chemicals** .
Area 1 – North American Chemicals Planning, Strategy, & Practice Development:
+ Develop and execute a quality and actionable Chemicals business plan
+ Enable Sales, the VAT team, and the partner ecosystem on how to differentiate SAP for the industry
+ Develop compelling industry specific content
Area 2 – Drive SAP Awareness in Industry & Incremental Demand for Chemicals:
+ Development of SAP's brand in the industry through thought leadership, content creation, appearances in industry events, articles and social & traditional media interviews, etc.
+ Create and nurture industry customers and communities
+ Get doors open.
+ Create / qualify new pipeline opportunities
+ Execute marketing events, social and digital plans
+ Provide industry advisory for account planning
Area 3 – Mature Chemicals Industry Opportunities in Pipeline:
+ Accelerate pipeline opportunity conversion to qualified customer engagements
+ Support industry specific account strategies
+ Conduct executive first meetings to differentiate SAP based on deep understanding of SAP’s offering into Chemicals, peer customers innovation roadmap with SAP, well aligned to the customer’s objectives
+ Support development of industry specific customer experiences & demos
Area 4 – Support Chemicals Deal Execution:
+ Differentiate SAP by industry throughout the sales cycle to increase win-rates and grow deal sizes
+ Provide industry context and solution expertise into RFP Responses, Business Cases, Product Demos, industry solution architecture, etc.
+ Lead customer executive conversations
Area 5 – Support Customer Success Realization:
+ Support post sales advisory for top accounts in plan
+ Support executive steering committees for top accounts
+ Support Industry Customer Advisory Councils
+ Build and nurture customer references
Area 6 – Solution Strategy & Portfolio:
+ Collect and consolidate customer requirements, analyze market direction and define our solution strategy for Chemicals, considering ecosystem solutions as well as developing own SAP Development portfolio case
What You Bring
+ Master’s degree (preferably in a chemical-related area)
+ MBA or similar experience beneficial
+ 8 years of relevant Chemicals industry experience preferred either as a practitioner or an operational consultant to the industry
+ 5 years of application solution / product experience (preferably SAP)
+ Business Development and/or Management Consulting experience
+ Knowledgeable on Chemicals Industry
+ Market strategies/ business drivers/ challenges - per segment
+ Business processes - across a broad set of buying centers in the business
+ How technology needs to support all the above
+ Industry reputation / brand - network of industry relationships.
+ Participation in relevant industry associations is a strong positive.
+ Proficient speaker in customer 1:1 and 1: many event situations.
+ Experience building and retaining strong customer relationships.
+ Experience in diverse technology landscape and process/technology integration issues.
+ Must exhibit an executive presence.
+ Excellent and energetic public speaking skills.
+ Proven CXO engagement skills.
+ Growth / business ownership mentality and approach = build and grow a business.
+ Great storyteller using customer examples to explain 1) why do anything, 2) why now, 3) why SAP.
+ Product marketing acumen (segment, target, content, lead strategy, digital, social, etc.).
+ Solution selling acumen – ability to differentiate in complex sale.
+ Building storylines and high-quality presentations in PowerPoint with a very keen eye for detail.
+ Can do attitude.
+ Natural team player; success achieved by supporting each other’s growth and celebrating team’s success.
+ Passion for how technology can be used to enable industry strategic initiatives.
+ SAP technology knowledge is a bonus (consulting / presales / solution management is a plus).

**Compensation Range Transparency** : SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 194100 - 368700(USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
