Working within the Facilities Services Department, the Maintenance Assistant PM provides preventive, routine, and on-demand maintenance services for Institute functions during business and evening hours. Performs daily inspections, maintenance repairs, and upkeep of campus owned and leased properties as directed. Ensures that all work order requests are processed in a timely manner, and in compliance with state and federal regulations. Previous facilities maintenance experience required, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and general building construction.

This is a full time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $20.91 - $25.63 per hour.

Core Responsibilities:

+ Performs daily inspection, maintenance repairs, and overall upkeep of MIIS owned and leased properties as directed including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general building construction completing repairs as needed. Operates as the on-sight, evening hour maintenance person, to respond to all work order requests for maintenance needs.

+ Ensures that all work order requests and tasks identified for repairs are completed in a timely manner, and in the most cost-effective way, and in compliance with all state and federal regulations.

+ Provides support to the daytime maintenance staff by responding to work orders to be completed after regular business hours.

+ Ensure preventative maintenance tasks and work order are completed as assigned.

+ Monitors overall classroom condition and supplies with an emphasis on quality & safety

+ Daily delivery of mail for student housing as well as providing assistance to the campus mail room as needed.

+ Schedules and oversees contractors hired to perform essential duties as assigned.

+ All other duties as assigned by supervisor to ensure efficient operation of all aspects of the Facilities Department.

Requirements

+ A combination of education and experience which would demonstrate above mentioned skills. Experience in college or university maintenance, event setup processes, landscape maintenance, and/or custodial services would be highly desirable.

+ Experience in general maintenance operations including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and general building construction

+ Basic computer skills and ability to effectively use computerized information systems.

+ Good organizational skills and accurate record keeping.

+ Knowledge of safety related to maintenance and facilities management.

+ Knowledge and ability to maintain tools and equipment in clean working order, providing proper security, and following all OSHA approved safety guidelines.

+ Willingness and ability to maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, general public, vendors, contractors, etc.

+ Ability to operate a motor vehicle, and to observe legal and defensive driving practices.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Incumbent works in both indoor and outdoor environments, and may be exposed to noise, temperature changes, and chemicals. Consequently, incumbent may be required to wear protective apparel and safety equipment. For extended periods of time require the ability sit, walk, bend, climb, push/pull, lift and carry up to 100 pounds occasionally. A combination of walking, climbing, and lifting is required.
