Our project teams include specialists in the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of tele-data communications, audio/video, process control, building management and fire/safety installations.

    SUMMARY

    The Senior Payroll Administrator will be responsible for assisting the Payroll Supervisor and Accounting team with the quick and efficient processing of payroll. This individual must have strong analytical thinking skills, an attention to detail with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines, and most importantly, the ability to retain confidential information. Excellent interpersonal skills, pleasant phone manner, efficient typing ability (data entry), and familiarity with Microsoft Office are a requirement.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Include the following. Other duties will likely be assigned.

     

    + Process and issue employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.

    + Compute wages and deductions and enter data into computers.

    + Review time sheets, work charts, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.

    + Compile employee time, production, and payroll data from time sheets and other records.

    + Review, correct and enter time sheets into database and payroll software for multiple unions and nonunion employees on a weekly basis; payroll is in-house so this also includes printing and distribution of checks.

    + Review and enter new hire paperwork data into software and file into employee personnel files.

    + Process certified payrolls accurately for 500+ employees on a weekly basis.

    + Familiarity with different union fringes and benefits for processing purposes.

    + Assist Human Resources with review of I-9’s, E-Verify processing, and the preparation/filing of employee files as needed.

    + Generate and distribute necessary reports internally and externally.

    + Gather documentation for company audits on a timely basis.

    + Assist with weekly certified payroll compliance reporting.

    + Process and mail checks for vouchers.

    + Process new hire and terminated employees’ payroll.

    + Assist Human Resources with employee verifications and scanning of employee personnel files pursuant to legal requests.

    + Maintain utmost confidentiality of company information.

    + Comply with work instructions and Company established policies and procedures.

    + Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Payroll Supervisor with recommendation for resolution.

    + Assist junior staff with issues as they arise.

    + Ensure compliance with EMCOR payroll processing policies.

    + Perform additional assignments as required by the company or as directed by management.

    + Able to work 40 hours per week in San Diego (El Cajon) office, and more as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    + Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Accounting or related field with 5-plus years working in a payroll capacity, preferably with electrical construction or union contractors.

    + Working knowledge of the construction industry, operations management, and safety practices, as well as knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines is a plus.

    + Prior union payroll experience is a plus.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    + Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, and database applications.

    + Working knowledge of payroll, project and financial software is a plus.

    **Compensation Range:** $37.00-$42.00

     

    The compensation range is dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
