UPMC Health Plan is hiring a Product Manager, Intermediate to join the Product Development team. The team is based out of downtown Pittsburgh's US Steel Tower, and this role will work in a hybrid structure.
Part evangelist and part visionary the Product Manager, Intermediate works closely with the Director of Product Development and other areas of the company to assure that long term vision becomes a reality, by developing solutions that embody the key themes of our product direction.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience within the health insurance industry.
Responsibilities:
+ Works effectively with respective teams to apply contemporary thinking and awareness of current market environment and regulatory landscape to product design.
+ Knowledge of and the ability to assess customer needs and provide solutions for them
+ Partners with key stakeholders including sales, marketing and other internal service partners as well as external stakeholders to ensure all product offerings or experiences meet strategic goals. Develops product-specific marketing initiatives. May participate in client-facing activities. Supports risk management, compliance and audit needs as part of the first line of defense.
+ Interact with and influence multiple areas of the organization including Underwriting, Executive, Actuarial; etc.
+ Evaluate the impact new Federal and States mandates have on new and existing products.
+ Ensures the quality, design, experience and value of current products in the market as well as the next product in development
+ Work with different functional areas within Health Plan to create, implement and monitor new products and programs.
+ Plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources, to achieve project objectives.
+ Coordinate cost benefit analysis on proposed initiatives.
+ Communicate all programs to Marketing Staff to ensure programs are understood and marketed to potential and current members.
+ Deliver business and financial results through the selection, design, development and promotion of new and existing products or experiences.
+ Utilize tools, techniques and processes for gathering and reporting data in a particular department or division of Health Plan.
+ Participate on committees that impact/pertain to product development.
+ Train and educate key departmental personnel impacted by the new products and programs.
+ Provides competitive pricing and coverage support analysis for inclusion in filings.
+ Coordinate product filings with the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance.
+ B.S. degree required.
+ 5 years of experience in insurance or medical environment, or relevant product management experience; including 2 years' experience bringing multiple quality products to market or into production
+ Regulatory and product filing or equivalent experience
+ Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office including: Outlook, Word, Excel and Access as well as Internet Explorer.
+ Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
+ Ability to work with various levels of staff throughout the corporation.
+ Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
+ Ability to supervise and direct projects as needed.
