Job Announcement
This position performs tasks related to security equipment installation and service to include all access control, burglary alarm, and security camera systems, to optimize the security of employees and visitors, and the security of physical assets, of Fairfax County Government. In some emergency and after-hours instances, the position is responsible for diagnosis and repair of all access and control, burglary alarm, and security camera systems; and determines the extent of repair or replacement components, devices, and methods to be utilized for all security equipment and systems. Programming of various security systems may be required as a backup to the SSPM. Assisting with requests for county video footage for FOIA and investigative purposes. Preparation of footage for release to include formatting, analysis, and redactions. Position provides technical responses to assist the county's security team as needed for special assignments. The position will be classified as essential personnel and is required to serve as a member of an assigned Emergency Operations Center team upon activation, which could include extended hours (12-hour shifts) over multiple days. Works u nder general supervision of the Security Systems Project Manager (SSPM).

+ Responds to emergency calls on malfunctioning systems;
+ Uses a variety of test equipment, test procedures, schematic diagrams, and technical specifications to diagnose and isolate malfunctions;
+ Maintains a sufficient inventory of spare parts, repair tools, and equipment;
+ Initiates procurement of replacement supplies and equipment as necessary;
+ Maintains current knowledge of statutory electrical codes and requirements, and of new technological developments in the relevant field of electronics;
+ Keeps accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and work performed;
+ Acts as lead or single technician in the more complex projects;

+ Ability to diagnose complex problems and malfunctions in electronic equipment and systems, and to prescribe solutions;
+ Ability to plan, schedule, and complete installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment and systems;
+ Ability to read and work from manuals, schematics, and drawings;
+ Ability to operate the required power and hand tools and test equipment;
+ Ability to keep accurate records and generate accurate reports;
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and customers.
Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:
High school graduation or a GED issued by a state department of education; plus, completion of an apprentice-level vocational training program in electronics; and two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of the electronic and electromechanical equipment specific to the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Knowledge of equipment used for multiple security access control, alarm, and video surveillance systems.
+ Knowledge of Honeywell Winpak, Exacqvision, digital monitoring products and digital security controls.
+ Knowledge of operational guidelines, protocol, and administration of all requirements of security electronic and monitoring systems.
+ Skills and ability to communicate and work with contractors on small- and large-scale projects.
+ Ability to work with multiple end users and clients.
+ Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
+ Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
+ Ability to utilize Microsoft Office software to include Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, driving record check, and pre-employment medical evaluation to the satisfaction of the employer.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time (i.e. up to four hours continuously). Good dexterity is required for hands-on work. Good eyesight and able to differentiate colors. Must be able to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Must be able to climb up step ladder and or extension ladder. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
