    Cleveland Clinic's inpatient pharmacy areas support distributive and clinical pharmacy services provided by staff pharmacists, clinical pharmacy specialists and pharmacy technicians, supporting 60 nursing units, 80 operating rooms, 4 PACUs, and 10 Cath labs, accounting for over 1,440 inpatient beds. As an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital link in moving medications throughout the facility to enhance patient care. You will join a team that empowers every caregiver to make valuable contributions to patient-focused care, teaching and research activities. This team embraces a positive attitude and respects and supports one another to provide the best care possible.

     

    A caregiver in this position works day/evening/night/weekend, 6:30am-3:00pm or 2:00pm-10:30pm.

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.

    + Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.

    + Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.

    + Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.

    + Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.

    + Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + High School Diploma/GED

    + Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program

    + Upon hire, you must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA).

    + In addition to the above requirement, upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee

    + **Please note:** Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months

    + Understanding of algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Six months of hospital experience

    Physical Requirements:

    + Working while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods
