    Job Description

    THIS POSITION IS ONLY OPEN TO INTERNAL ACS APPICANTS

    THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY OF $72,978.00

     

    The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement and programs for youth in the community.

     

    The New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) is seeking an outstanding candidate to serve as a Youth Coordinator for the ACS Office of Older Youth Development Services (OYDS) to lead ACS’ work in the area of supportive monitoring, technical support, preparing youth for adulthood and community-based support. This office is housed within the ACS Division of Family Permanency Services (FPS), which is the agency’s foster care division; Reporting to the Program Supervisor for the FPS Office of Older Youth Development Services, the selected candidate will be an integral member of the FPS and ACS programming teams.

     

    The Office of Older Youth Development Services (OYDS) serves as the agency point of contact for all conferencing and youth development policies, regulations, and program development. Supervision Until 21 (S21)- provides monitoring youth between the ages of 18-21 years old who have elected to leave foster care with a goal of APPLA prior to reaching their 21st birthday. Will also support special project of working with long-stayers at the Children’s Center. This unit Support efforts to link youth/family to the most conducive aftercare plan including appropriate school setting and referrals to Evidence-based Preventive Services. Provides case specific consultation. Provides linkages to internal ACS units and external partners such as DYCD. Participates in family team conferences and case specific conferences. Provides clarity regarding the role and responsibility of each stakeholder. Collaborates with Family Service Unit/Division of Child Protection, when required.

    The Youth Coordinator will be responsible for performing the following duties but not limited to:

    - Complete discharge checklist every 6-months

     

    - Participate in reentry conferences

     

    - Provide supportive monitoring

     

    - Going into the community to engage youth with services

     

    - Support efforts to link youth/family educational/vocational supports

     

    - Provides case specific consultation as it relates to special initiatives such as close-down or working with long-stayers at the Children’s Center.

     

    - Provides linkages to internal ACS units such as housing.

     

    - Participates in family team conferences and case specific conferences.

     

    - Provides clarity regarding the role and responsibility of each stakeholder.

     

    - Collaborates with Family Service Unit/Division of Child Protection, when required.

    Qualifications

    1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

    2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

    3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
