Job Posting: Accounting Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: $125-135k base + bonus

We are currently partnering with a prominent real estate investment firm based in San Francisco on an exciting search for an experienced Accounting Manager. This vertically integrated owner-operator specializes in multifamily, student housing, and single-family rental properties across the Western U.S. With over $2 billion in assets under management, they are known for their hands-on approach to property acquisition, renovation, and management. The firm values teamwork, integrity, and excellence, offering a dynamic environment for professionals looking to make a meaningful impact in the real estate sector.

Responsibilities:

+ Manage day-to-day accounting functions and oversee the monthly financial close to ensure timely and accurate reporting, including consolidation of joint venture financials.

+ Lead the preparation and review of complex journal entries tied to key transactions such as acquisitions, sales, refinances, capital events, and partnership structures.

+ Ensure capital contributions and distributions are aligned with partnership agreements and entity governance documents.

+ Research and resolve discrepancies in financial data, ensuring reconciliations are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

+ Interpret legal and financial documents—including operating and management agreements, loan contracts, and leases—to inform and guide property-level financial reporting.

+ Provide leadership and development support to team members, including mentoring and conducting periodic performance evaluations.

+ Continuously evaluate and enhance internal accounting workflows and controls to improve efficiency and accuracy.

+ Take on additional projects and tasks as requested by senior accounting leadership or company executives.

Requirements

+ 5+ years experience in real estate, ideally with a real estate firm.

+ Must have:

+ Full cycle month end close experience

+ Yardi experience

+ Management experience

+ Strong communicator since this person will manage remote reports.
