    Job Description:

    UNIT DESCRIPTION:

    **The Senior Behavioral Health Center (** **SBHC** ) is a geriatric psychiatric/behavioral unit. Registered and licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, unit coordinators, nurse practitioners, social workers, occupational therapists, activity coordinators, dietitians and a physician medical director staff the unit.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    + Provides direct nursing care to geriatric population that suffers both significant psychiatric and physical co-morbidities.

    + Ensuring that a safe and therapeutic environment exists and is maintained for this population.

    + Safe administration of medication, including a thorough knowledge of psychiatric medications.

    + Collaboration with all members of the interdisciplinary team in order to provide comprehensive psychiatric and medical care to both patients and their families.

    **Minimum Requirements** :

    + Current Massachusetts RN License

    + Evidence of Continuing Education

    + Previous experience working as a RN required, Med/Surg Nursing Experience preferred

    + AHABLSrequired.

    **Recommended Requirements** :

    + Documented Professional Development Activities

    + 6-12 Months Charge Nurse Experience

    + Experience with Geriatric Psych Population.
