    Laboratory Assistant/Specimen Processor

     

    Forensic Laboratory | 2nd shift (Monday - Friday) | Can Gain Hands-On Laboratory Experience

    Job Description

    The Forensic Laboratory Assistant works in a fast-paced, production-type environment performing a vital component of medical laboratory science. This role involves receiving on-the-job training for the pre-analytical processing of medical samples.

    Responsibilities

    + Open specimens and pour off into secondary containers for preparation for analysis and testing.

    + Verify all samples have arrived, inspect for any damage, remove and dispose of packaging, and move samples for entry.

    + Operate multiple computer software systems, remembering which software applies to different samples.

    + Verify names on samples match requisitions.

    + Handle various sample types including urine, blood, serum, plasma, body fluid, and unknown substances.

    + Create labels and label samples after entry into systems.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Preference towards a bachelor's degree in science, but open to other backgrounds such as banking, serving, and customer service

    + High School Diploma, Associates Degree Or Bachelor's Degree

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $19.80 - $19.80/hr.
