Job Description
The Medical Assistant provides clinical office support to physicians and surgeons and performs patient care and administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care.
Qualifications
+ High School Diploma and appropriate course work at an accredited college or technical school.
+ Three to six months related experience.
+ Graduate from a Medical Assistant program
+ Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
+ BLS/BCLS from the American Heart Association

Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $24.94 - $27.10 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Responsibilities
A. Clinical/Technical/Service
1. Admits patient to exam room for examination
2. Takes vital signs, medical history and medication history including allergies
3. Prepares patient charts for physician
4. Ensures information is correct and up to date
5. Coordinates outside testing for patients, assures results are returned
6. Performs diagnostic testing as ordered by physician
7. Verifies diagnosis and procedure codes with physicians
8. Administer injections as directed by physician
9. Documents all patient interactions in the patients' file
10. Maintains patient confidentiality
11. Maintains exam rooms and medical areas
12. Notifies patients of test results as directed by physician
13. Operates medical equipment as required
14. Takes blood and other bodily fluids as required
15. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned area
B. Organizational/Managerial
16. Participates in the departments performance improvement activities
17. Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information
18. Observes the Health Care Systems compliance policies
19. Adheres to lab procedures required by CLIA regulations
20. Adheres to OSHA regulations
21. Assists in the training of new employees
22. Represents the hospital to patients, vendors, contractors and public
C. Educational/Professional Development
23. Participates in the development of other staff members
24. Meets regulatory, licensure and annual health assessment requirements
25. Identifies learning strengths and needs
26. Utilizes learning resources
27. Attends sponsored training activities
D. Communication/Relationships
28. Demonstrates a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude in dealing with patients, families and significant others
29. Displays courtesy, tact and patience during interactions with all members of the hospital staff and extended community
30. Adheres to Continuums legal and ethical standards
31. May be required to perform other duties as assigned
