    DRIVER

    We are excited to invite a passionate and experienced Driver to join our team! Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is searching for an experienced Driver for our location in Staten Island, NY. As the Driver, you will play a pivotal role in our organization, helping with delivering and transporting staff and clients as needed throughout all five NYC boroughs and upstate New York.     ABOUT HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS.

     

    Homes for the Homeless operate shelters for families experiencing homelessness in NYC. Our family residences are more than just a place to sleep. Families can make the most of their stay through accessing an array of onsite programs. Many of these programs are also available to people living in the local community. Our goal is to have a positive impact so families can thrive long after they leave our shelters.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Plan and follow efficient routes to ensure timely delivery and pickups.

    + Safely operate company vehicles to transport staff, clients, and goods to designated locations from all HFH locations.

    + Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure safety and reliability.

    + Able to use a two-way radio.

    + Must be able to lift (at least 50 pounds), push, and pull heavy objects as part of daily responsibilities.

    + Ability to stand, walk, sit, and bend for extended periods.

    + Ability to work a flexible schedule and overtime.

    + Adhere to all traffic laws and company polices to maintain a safe driving record.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    + High school diploma or equivalent.

    + Two years’ driving experience.

    + Must possess a valid state driver’s license with a safe driving record that meets agency standards.

    + Must provide complete driving abstract from the Department of Motor Vehicles before hire, and regularly once hired.
