The Strong is looking for a full-time officer to join its professional security team responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of guests, staff, and museum collections. The Security Officer provides a round-the-clock visible security presence through frequent walking tours, posts at designated locations, and monitoring of CCTV cameras to identify and address security concerns, respond to incidents, conduct investigations, and prepare reports. The security team is also responsible for monitoring the activities within an attached 1,000 car parking garage, managing the guest entrance process and providing a welcoming, helpful presence to visitors as they enter.

The schedule for this position is Tuesday-Saturday from 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., including holidays.

Qualifications:

+ High school diploma or equivalency

+ 1-2 years of related experience, at a corporate facility or public venue preferred

+ Possession of a valid New York State security guard license

+ Working knowledge of security operations, safety practices, and enforcement procedures in a business environment

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills

+ Ability to understand and follow standard operating procedures and to perform duties in a professional manner

+ Experience investigating and writing incident reports and making independent, reasonable decisions within proper policies and procedures

+ Successfully complete, become certified, and stay current with Red Cross basic first aid training, AED training, and adult and child CPR training

+ Possession of a valid NYS Driver’s License is desired

Final candidates must consent to and pass a drug screen and background check as conditions of employment.

Incumbents who are fully meeting expectations in all areas of this position following 90 days of employment will be considered for a pay increase of $1 per hour.
