This is an Engineering Supervisor II position that leads specialized maintenance and construction initiatives and within State Maintenance Operations.
Manage the fuel site replacement/construction program which oversees regulatory compliance and proper maintenance of the Department’s 112 fuel sites across the state. Responsibilities for oversight of the fuel site replacement and construction program include analyzing fuel site construction needs, develops a programmatic schedule for replacement, coordinate site surveys and design for underground and above ground tanks and fueling facilities/equipment, develop proposals for solicitation and recommend award & execution of fuel site replacement contracts, perform necessary coordination with State Construction, provide construction oversight/project management and manage construction inspection, maintain necessary regulatory permits through coordination with other NC agencies. Oversee additional data analytics across the greater Operations unit as necessary including but not limited to supporting FMMU for fleet data needs including rental rate analysis, utilization, fuel use, equipment compliments, and other fleet related metrics, support for Operations Program Management for asset management data needs as necessary, and support for State Maintenance Operations for program data needs as necessary. Assist with greater disaster recovery efforts within State Maintenance Operations as necessary.

+ Experience providing program/project leadership in planning and organizing the work of others.

Additional Expectations:
Ability to make final approval for complex or a broad variety/scope of program/project specifications for completeness, compatibility, compliance with engineering principles, standards, codes, and design needs. Ability to research alternatives and designs or analyze special details for non-standard items of work for programs/projects. Ability to determine program/project priorities, processes, and procedures. Ability to manage complex or broad variety/scope of programs/projects for completeness, compatibility, compliance with engineering principles and design needs and standards; ability to resolve/approve major project/program changes. Demonstrated ability to serve as technical expert in the area of assignment and may require ability to represent the agency/university as an expert regarding compliance with engineering principles, standards, codes, designs and statutes and address conflicting design constraints. Ability to participate and lead as needed in the development of long-range strategic goals.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience including two (2) years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
