    Job Summary:

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Recruit and evaluate group exercise instructors as needed to meet demand for classes.

    + Sets standard procedures and trains instructors.

    + Encourage member attendance and monitor class attendance to determine scheduling changes or class additions or deletions to schedule.

    + Ensures classes are held as scheduled, substitutes when needed and cancels classes as necessary.

    + Assists General Manager and Assistant General Manager with budget development.

    + In conjunction with the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, and Marketing and Communications personnel ensure promotions and content are provided for class awareness and special offerings.

    + Ensure adequate quantity and proper functioning of small equipment for group exercise classes.

    + Work with the Center IT Manager to ensure functioning audio systems in studios and pool for group instruction.

    + Uses member feedback to structure class offerings and updates as needed.

    + Updates the class schedule for various outlets each month: print, website, member app - keeps app updated for classes requiring reservations, etc.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Three (3) years of experience teaching group exercise fitness classes, personal training, or a combination of both.

    + Current certification from a nationally accredited group (e.g. AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NETA).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree.

    + One (1) or more years of experience with managing a center group exercise program.

    + Certified to teach licensed or branded classes (E.g. Zumba, Les Mills) or classes requiring additional certifications (e.g. yoga, Pilates).

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    + Ability to lead a team of over thirty group exercise instructors and coordinate scheduling and communication to provide dependable class schedules.

    + Ability to instruct in a variety of group exercise classes.

    + Ability to lead classes in a positive/enthusiastic manner to a variety of members, offering modifications/options to members as requested.

    + Ability to instruct classes effectively using both verbal and physical cues.

    + Knowledge of exercise studio audio equipment and usage of equipment.

    Group Exercise Lead - 35464 University Staff

    The CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center is seeking a full-time Group Exercise Lead position at 0.625 FTE. This position oversees the staffing and scheduling of the Fitness Center Group Exercise programs and onsite and offsite special exercise programming needs. The position determines which group exercise classes to offer given clientele and latest industry trends. This position will be responsible for promoting and growing the Group Exercise program. The Anschutz Health and Wellness Center teaches over 40 group exercise classes per week in Strength, Mind/Body, Aqua, Cycling and Cardio. The Group Exercise Lead will be expected to teach regular occurring classes, as well as filling in to sub classes.
