The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position will be located in either Las Vegas or Carson City, depending on the candidate chosen. The Business Enterprises of Nevada (BEN) program provides business opportunities in government facilities for blind and visually impaired individuals. The Administrative Assistant 4 position performs a variety of fiscal and administrative functions for the BEN program that include but are not limited to: processing invoices for payment; ensuring appropriate use and billing of contracts and other agreements; processing medical, life insurance, and retirement reimbursements; oversight, tracking, and reporting of profit and loss statements, set-aside payments, loan repayments, and vending machine commissions; tracking, monitoring, and processing of operator agreements and host agency agreements; creating and overseeing purchase orders; liaison with financial management and other internal customers within state government; reconciliation of site closures and transfers; managing BEN databases related to operator information, expenditures, agreements, contracts, financials, and other BEN operational items; ordering, coordinating, and processing of equipment repair and maintenance for BEN sites; and assisting with support services and special projects. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will not be required to pay for these items.
Additional Position Criteria
This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
