    + The position is responsible for managing American’s global environmental, safety and health compliance programs. The Manager supports company leadership in initiatives related to reducing workplace safety hazards, reducing harm to the environment, and employee safety. This position resides in the Environmental and Regulatory Compliance organization.

     

    What you'll do

Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations.

     

    + Manages team members to collaborate with operational leaders to support environmental and workplace safety compliance efforts throughout the airline

    + Interfaces with Regulatory agencies (i.e., Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency)

    + Acts as a subject matter expert/resource for management as it relates to EPA, OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, etc

    + Manages corporate initiatives related to Industrial Hygiene, JHAs, PPE review boards, injury reduction, Chemical review board, Environmental permitting compliance, waste management, site remediation, etc

    + Represents American Airlines during Regulatory discussions to mitigate penalties/fines

    + Participates in industry organizations (i.e., Airlines for America, International Air Transport Association) to manage the impact of proposed regulations and policy changes

    + Manages the implementation, development, and continuous improvement of policies, procedures and processes

    + Manages department budget

    + Provide oversight for the implementation of an environmental management system

    + Communicates with employees at all levels of American Airlines

    + Oversee training development and updates to address regulatory requirements or changes

     

    All you'll need for success

    Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

    + Bachelor's degree in related field

    + 5 years related job experience

    Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

    + Certified Salary & Health Official (CSHO)

    + 10+ years of work experience in an Environmental, Safety & Health position

    + Two years’ experience in managerial roles

    + Familiar with multiple state environmental and OSHA regulations

    Skills, Licenses & Certifications

    + Excellent relationship building and maintaining skills

    + Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.

    + Proficiency in creating charts in Excel and explaining them within PowerPoint

    + Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and projects

    + Strong aptitude for problem solving by reviewing statistics on injuries

    + Excellent interpersonal communication skills along with an ability to work well with others in a collaborative setting

    + Ability to write, create and present plans and presentations that are focused and persuasion

    + Familiarity with company rules and airport operations

    + Effective organization and planning skills

    + Understands the impact of human factors

    + Working knowledge of Environmental and OSHA regulations

    + Strong leadership and team building skills

    + Ability to interpret governmental regulations and develop AA policies/guidelines related to Occupational Safety and Health to ensure departments are in compliance with OSHA mandated standards.
