Description
The City of Detroit's Department of Transportation (DDOT) Customer Service Department is currently accepting applications for a Specialized Transportation Service Assistant (STSA).
Under immediate supervision, working in a Call Center, the Specialized Transportation Service Assistant provides general and specific information regarding public transportation.
Examples of Duties
+ Able to analyze possible route configurations utilizing computerized coach listings, maps and street directories to determine the most appropriate travel plan.
+ Refer passengers to other transportation departments and community agencies when appropriate.
+ Filing Customer complaints concerns and comments and questions into the database from calls and emails.
+ Capable of interpreting the Departmental Rules and regulations, Riders Rules of Conduct.
+ Assisting customers with their request and inquiries about bus travel needs.
+ Able to configure and provide alternate routes of transportation when current routes are unavailable.
+ Capable of reading maps explaining bus travel directions, planning and routing trips for passengers using public transportation.
+ Knowledgeable of Detroit’s Geography the public transit system and available neighboring transportation services.
+ Assisting passengers with the use of public transportation.
+ Answer calls and questions regarding the use of public transportation.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
One year of experience in providing customer service in a large urban transit system.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS
City Employees Retirement System
As a regular City employee you automatically become a member of the General Retirement System. This entitles you to a retirement allowance after:
• Completion of thirty (30) years of service;
- At age sixty (60) if you have at least ten (10) years of service, or
- At age sixty-five (65) with eight (8) years of service.
• In the event of disability, other eligibility rules apply);
- An early, actuarially reduced, retirement is offered after you have attained at least twenty-five (25) years of service;
• Employees are vested after ten (10) years of service, regardless of age.
