    Clinical Informationist

    Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

    Relevant Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). One year of full-time experience working in a health sciences or academic library environment or providing information services to clinicians.

     

    **Preferred Qualifications** :

     

    Experience with reference/research support or collection development within a health sciences setting. Experience providing instruction at the undergraduate, graduate, or clinical level. Familiarity with current trends in the field of health sciences librarianship. Experience in continuing education and emerging technologies. Record of professional activities, including research, presentations, or engagement in professional organizations.

    Brief Description of Duties:

    Reporting to the Director of the Health Sciences Library, the Clinical Informationist provides research assistance as well as instruction to the faculty, residents, and fellows within Stony Brook Medicine’s Department of Graduate Medical Education (GME). The Clinical Informationist will also engage in outreach and provide research services to clinicians across Stony Brook Medicine’s hospitals, centers, and outpatient care facilities. The Clinical Informationist will be expected to participate in research, scholarship, and professional activities.

     

    + Reference/Instruction:

    + Develop and deliver instructional sessions on research-related topics, such as literature searching and evidence-based medicine to residents, fellows and clinicians. Create and maintain research guides and asynchronous learning modules. Work collaboratively across the health sciences library to provide general reference/research support.

    + Research Consultation:

    + Provide in-depth research consultations to residents, fellows and clinicians as needed for course-related and independent research activities. Participate in the development of search strategies for systematic reviews, scoping reviews, and meta-analyses. Handle research and data inquiries from Stony Brook Medicine’s research facilities, affiliates, and partners.

    + Outreach:

    + Establish relationships with the various Graduate Medical Education (GME) Program Directors to ensure they are aware of the research services available through the Health Sciences Library. Engage in outreach to Stony Brook Medicine’s outpatient and inpatient care facilities in order to provide research and evidence-based medicine support to clinicians. Support new initiatives and special projects across the organization. Participate in library, campus, and professional committees.

    + Other Duties as assigned.
