Postdoctoral Associate

**Required Qualifications:** (as evidenced by an attached resume)

• Must have completed a Ph.D. in Biochemistry or a closely related field in the last one year.

• At least one first author publication as part of their Ph.D. thesis work.

• Experience with CRISPR gene editing technology.

• Experience with protein purification.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with confocal microscopy.

• Experience with yeast and mammalian cell culture.

• Experience with protein-protein interaction studies.

Brief Description of Duties:

Stony Brook University is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to work in the research laboratory of Dr. Stuti Sharma (https://www.sharma-lab.org/) . The successful candidate will participate in a collaborative research project investigating the mechanisms of non-canonical functions of the vacuolar ATPase. The project involves purification of endogenous V-ATPase from human cell-culture for enzymatic assays, protein-protein interaction studies and structure determination using single particle cryo-electron microscopy. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. The incumbent will be required to conduct research and ensure that all experiments are following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.

• Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, carry out experiments and other research activities in accordance with the research goals of the lab.

• Collect and analyze data for reporting experimental results in scientific publications.

• Assist with training other lab members in specialized scientific techniques.

• Participate in weekly lab meetings presenting research data.

• Other duties as assigned, which may include attending and presenting research results at Scientific Conferences and Meetings.

FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
